Island Sightseeing Tour of St Martin from Philipsburg
3-Hour Tour:
After hotel pickup in Philipsburg, visit beautiful Coralita Bay, a small and deserted beach with fine white sand that overlooks the French-Caribbean island of St Bart's. Admire the breathtaking views before continuing to Orient Beach, one of the island's foremost destinations and a highlight of the French side. Enjoy fun in the tropical sunshine for about 30 minutes, sunbathing or swimming in the calm turquoise sea.
Next, drive through the Caribbean's gourmet capital, Grand Case, a quaint fishing village located on the French side's northern coast.As you drive through Grand Case, take in the gorgeous vista and look out for the nearby island of Anguilla.
Then continue south around the island to the French village of Marigot, St-Martin's capital. Here, you'll have about 45 minutes to stroll the French-colonial, shop-lined streets. Enjoy something to drink – a soda or the local specialty, guavaberry liqueur, a rum made from the island fruit. Peek into clothing outlets and visit the open-air bazaar, which wraps around a central square.
As you cross the Dutch-French border, take in one of the most incredible views on the island from Cole Bay Hill, which overlooks the resort town of Simpson Bay. You'll have the opportunity to take photos at the Dutch-French border, before continuing on the tour. Finally, enjoy the scenic drive back to your Philipsburg hotel.
4.5-Hour Tour:
After pickup from your Philipsburg hotel, venture first to Grand Case Beach, one of the most tranquil and beautiful of St Martin's coastline. Here, on the north end of the French side, walk along the crystal-white sand and admire the pristine, clear blue water that mirrors the sky. Sunbathe, swim or stroll at your leisure, basking in the tropical sun.
The visit the village of Grand Case, where you can try guavaberry liqueur or simply enjoy a soda or beer. If you choose, dine on a local dish, such as chicken legs or Johnny Cake – a fried cornmeal pancake – for lunch (own expense).
Next, head to the quaint village of Marigot. Delight in the European ambiance of the town, where colonial streets lined with shops and the open-air bazaar offer plenty of duty-free shopping opportunities if you’re interested.
Then, visit Maho Beach and hold your breath as you watch airplanes fly close above as they approach the runway at nearby Princess Juliana International Airport. Your tour ends with a drive through Simpson Bay on your return to your hotel.
