The tour was excellent and tour guide great. The only issue was that when we bought the tour it was to be 8 hours and go to Upsalla. The tour guide thought it ended in Sigtuna. The other members of the group also believed it went to Upsalla, so the tour guide took us and was very thorough and gracious. But not sure why there was this confusion. All in all it was a very excellent tour and I highly recommend it.
Great trip wit lots of information. However, you are seeing rocks.... so if you are looking for artifacts, this is not the trip for you go to Oslo viking ship exhibit. This trip does give you history, an idea about the vikings, great coffee stop and lunch in a small village
Small group. Excellent guide. A lot of very interesting information. They even serve us coffee and homemade pastries, it was a rainy day so it was very kind of them to do that. Great tour!
If you want to know about Vikings and the history of this area this is the tour to take. Our guide was full of interesting details and catered the tour to the interests of the group. It opened our eyes to the many artifacts that we bypass every day. The trip through the countryside was also beautiful.
Our tour guide, Urban, was exceptional. He was very knowledgeable and personable. We were supposed to take the half day tour, but ended up switching to the full day tour. I would definitely recommend it. I was a little disappointed that Sigtuna didn't have tourist shops. I had gotten the impression that there would be handicrafts but there were only a few in the tourist info building.
This tour was amazing our tour guide urban was great and full of knowledge would highly recommend this tour
Great experience. Brilliant guide with a great general knowledge and engaging personality. I have done Viator tours before and generally have a very good experience, but this one was unique, largely because of the efforts of our guide who imbued very activity with energy and passion. I would recommend the experience highly.
Simply amazing! Our tour guide Eric took us through the history of early Viking life and how they used the rune stones to document events. As we drove around the countryside those stones appeared everywhere, on the sides of the road and even incorporated into the walls of buildings and walls! This then lead to a history lesson of the early church followed by the effects of the reformation. Throw a few kings in the mix, a plague, some wars and you start to get a basic timeline of events in Sweden. It was well worth the time and I would highly recommend it even if you are not a history buff because you can't beat the beauty of the Swedish countryside!
Had the greatest guide in the world and a great tour group. Loved every minute of this tour and would go again in a heatbeat!
Excellent and really enjoyable. Very expensive though so had to be!!
Very nice tour to the history of the Vikings. Really enjoyed the country side of Stockholm.
It was great to get out of Stockholm to see more of the countryside. This was a very interesting field trip to see where the Viking's lived and where they left there mark.
Our guide was a local with exceptional knowledge, thank you Pieter.
Very knowledgeable tour guide that took care of everything. Very interesting stops for those interested in Viking history. Also nice to see the countryside around Stockholm. Very pleasant experience!
This was an excellent tour. There was only 3 of us on the tour and our driver/guide, Urban was very entertaining and informative. He regaled us with stories and ancedotes on the way to the various sites. He would provide us with both an official version of events at the sites, but he would then add to it with his own thoughts and views and this was very interesting and added an extra touch of personalisation to the tour. To be honest, probably due to the very small size of the group, it really did not feel like a tour at all, but more like being taken round the local sites by a knowledgeable friend. The pace was just right and each of the sites visited was interesting and added something to the trip and your knowledge of Viking history. The stop at the farm to enjoy some coffee and cake before walking through the ruins was especially good as i was not expecting to enjoy such hospitality. Sigtuna is a vey nice little town, but maybe it is just a little bit too touristy, but sti very nice . All in all it was a really good tourand although it may seem quite expensive it really is wotrth the money. I just hope they keep the small group formula, as i don'tthink it would work nearly so well if it was scaled up to be a tour catering for a full bus load of passengers as you would miss that personal touch that really makes this tour
The tour was excellent from beginning to end: excellent guide, tea party lunch, sights, transportation.
It was wonderful, so informative in a pleasing manner. Our guide, driver was so interesting and thoughtful
would highly recommend this trip to everyone. Well worth the price.
My wife and I had a great time on this trip. Our guide was very knowledgable and also very funny. We enjoyed all of the stops along the tour and would definitely recommend this tour to others. The fact that it is only small groups makes for a much more personal and enjoyable experience.
Very, very informative with a wonderful tour leader. The only suggestion I have is that a map be distributed so we know where sites that are not in Sigtuna and Uppsala are located (eg, runes and mounds).
An excellent, intimate tour with a fantastic knowledgeable guide. I would highly recommend it
Our guide Urban gave us a an exceptional private tour of the area around Stockholm, since we were the only ones booked. Our 6 hours turned into 8 hours as we had the chance to explore at a more leisurely pace. One of the highlights that we will long remember was going to a private farm and enjoying refreshments with the owner and learning about her life in rural Sweden. The Uppsala burial mounds and the old Uppsala Church at the site was another memorable part of the day. It was our favorite church in all of the ones we visited around the Baltic. At our stop in the beautiful very ancient town of Sigtuna we had over an hour to explore on our own and eat lunch in a flower filled patio. Then there were the runes and visiting so many sites where they stood, along the road sides, deep in the forest and up on a farmer's hill, We really got a deep sense of the history we were witnessing. This is one tour not to be misses!!!
A unique opportunity to see the country side and visit the places once inhabited by the Vikings Tour was comprehensive and professionally conducted. The guide adds flavor to the tour speaking from the eyes of a local Stockholm inhabitant. Would recommend this tour.
We are still on our trip. All has gone very smoothly with Viator tours. All cards, tours, hop on and off the bus, etc have been a great way to see each city and country we have been in. Due to my own miscalculation, I had a Copenhagen card for 72 hours and should have had one for 48 and one for 24. Is there anyway to comp us a 24 hour Copenhagen card? We will return there to Copenhagen on June 1st for one last day. Please let me know, and if yes, please email to the Juno address before June 1st. We will be in Helsinki May 30 and 31, returning to Copenhagen June 1 before returning home to the US on June 2nd. Thanks! I would recommend Viator to friends. I would use viator again!
