This was my fourth trip to Stratford-upon-Avon. I take the bus tour every time because it gives me an overview of the city and stops at the most significant places.
Great way to see the highlights of the city. We got on and off when and where we wanted and got lots of information while on the bus. I highly recommend this as a way to see any city.
Great tour but had to wait 45 minutes for bus at ann hathaways cottage some people waited an hour
Overall this was great.
I came by train and asked at the station where I cou catch the bus. Received wrong information- it would have been nice to have a posting in the station as to where to catch the sightseeing bus
The tour was quite short compared to others I have been on throughout the UK but it was very interesting and entertaining. I also especially appreciated the flexibility offered - I purchased the tour for the Saturday but we decided to take the tour on the Sunday instead without any issue. Also, the stops were very convenient. We picked up the bus right outside our hotel - The Stratford - it also stopped at the Maybird Shopping Centre for a bit of shopping along the way and also stopped at the Waterside where there are many good restuarants for lunch - we ate at Carluccio's. All in all a really fun day.
In the very limited time we had in Stratford, the tour was the best way to see the highlights quickly. The guide was well informed.
This is a great quick way to see Stratford-on-Avon, plus you get to hear some interesting history and fun facts. My only complaint would be the bad earphones; there was a lot of static.
Most of the sights of the town are an easy walk from each other, but Anne Hathaway's cottage and Mary Arden's home are too far to walk. If you plan to go into multiple homes, be sure to buy the pass for the Shakespeare houses, it's a much better bargain as the houses individually are very expensive.
The passes were great but the staff at the pick up point are clueless. Thank goodness for Mark, the bus driver who was the only one that had a clue what was going on.
My campanion could not hear the audio. She wears a hearing aid and no headphones. I also had trouble hearing the lovely female voice especially when the bus was accelerating. The engine noise pretty much drowned out her voice. I suggest getting a strong voice for the audio.
A really average bus tour because of audio problems - had to move around the bus until we could find 2 audios that worked. Lucky the bus was not full.
The last tour ended at 4:20 pm - other hop on hop off tours run until at least 8:00 pm. This meant that arriving at the Anne Hathaway home at 4:00 was a bit late. It didn't seem worth it to pay 7.50 pounds for only twenty minutes to tour the location. Perhaps a bit of warning about the early ending would have been helpful.
