What You Can Expect
Dolphin watching cruise from Port Stephens
After being picked up from your Sydney hotel, you’ll be taken to meet Australian wildlife at the Australian Reptile Park. See kangaroos, wallabies, and spectacular bird life, then enjoy morning tea at the wildlife park. Your tour then takes you across the Hawkesbury River to Yengo National Park to enjoy its picturesque mix of rural farmland, grazing pastures and pristine Australian bush. The route takes you along sections of the original convict-built Old Great North Road, built in the 1830s, to the colonial-era township of Wollombi. Here, visit a local tavern to enjoy a tasting of Dr Jurd’s Jungle Juice, a fortified wine beverage produced with a family recipe that’s been handed down over the generations since the 1950s.
Your tour continues to Mt View, where you’ll see panoramic views over the vineyard country of the Hunter Valley, Australia’s oldest winemaking region. In the Hunter Valley, visit selected cellar doors for tastings of boutique wines, enjoy a cheese and olive oil tasting at a local cheese shop, and relax over a gourmet lunch at a regional winery. After lunch, you’ll be dropped at your accommodation in the Hunter Valley wine town of Pokolbin, and have the remainder of the afternoon and evening to enjoy at your leisure.
Accommodation: 4-star Hunter Resort in Pokolbin
Day 2: Hunter Valley – Port Stephens -- Sydney (B, L)
After breakfast at your hotel, you’ll be collected by a luxury vehicle and driven to Anna Bay for an exciting ride across the Stockton Sand Dunes on board a 4WD. If you want more excitement, you could even go sandboarding across the largest coastal dunes in the Southern Hemisphere! Then take a scenic cruise around Port Stephens' harbor to spot bottlenose dolphins swimming in the bay’s calm, enclosed waterway. Relax over a buffet lunch served aboard the Moonshadow boat before returning to the dry land at around 12pm. You’ll be then driven back to the Hunter Valley, a scenic drive of around 1.5 hours, to rejoin your tour at the chocolate shop before your journey back to Sydney, where you’ll be dropped at your hotel at around 6pm.
A note about eco-tours: This tour is operated with a low impact to the environment and local inhabitants, promotes cultural values and traditions, and provides opportunities to learn about the flora and fauna and the geological significance of the region.
