What You Can Expect

Sydney Harbour National Park: Private Walking Tour from the Spit to Manly

The Spit to Manly Walking Tour

Lace up your comfortable walking shoes and meet your expert guide at your local Sydney CBD hotel. Then, take a short walk to Circular Quay in the morning for a private water taxi crossing Sydney Harbour to the Spit Bridge. Your guide points out Sydney’s sights during the scenic 30-minute ride.

Upon arrival at Spit Bridge, set out along the coastal trail for your guided 7.5-mile (12-km) trek to Manly. Over the course of six hours, you stroll along terrain that ranges from paved pathways to rugged trails along a coastal heath; expect areas with soft sand and uneven terrain, including a section of stairs and gentle hills. You will be provided with fruit and snacks to nibble along the way to help you stay energized.

It's hard to believe you're only a few miles from the heart of the city as you move through the bushland for great views of Sydney Harbour and the ocean. Among the highlights of this walk is a stop to admire Aboriginal rock carvings, quite a contrast to the nearby modern mansions perched along the water, and a midday break to enjoy a picnic lunch.

Your knowledgeable guide also shares facts about the vegetation and regional history. You’ll visit lesser-known spots in the park, including some of its many hidden beaches (only accessible by trail or boat) for a dip in the water and to relax on the shoreline.

After a spectacular adventure through the park, board the ferry for a scenic ride from Manly back to Circular Quay where your tour ends.

Please note: A reasonable level of fitness is required for the walk, and it is recommended that children be at least 10 years old. It’s recommended that you bring 1–2 liters of drinking water, a hat, sunscreen, and a raincoat.
