Meet your guide at Circular Quay for your morning or afternoon departure. Hop on an iconic Sydney ferry that crosses Sydney Harbour to the village of Watsons Bay where you begin your walk. Along the way, note the landmarks that your guide points out as your ferry passes some of Sydney’s most beautiful coast and expensive waterside real estate.
When you arrive at Watsons Bay, follow your guide on a 3-mile (4.5km) walk on the South Head’s well-marked trail. Expect to walk for about two hours on an easy trail with some steps. You'll have plenty of stops for photos and rest breaks. You can also bring your own snacks to enjoy along the way.
Start by strolling along scenic Watsons Bay to the nearby South Head trail, located in Sydney Harbour National Park. Head to Camp Cove to admire the turquoise waters of this sheltered inlet and perhaps dip your toes in the water. Continue to the candy-striped Hornby Lighthouse, New South Wales' third-oldest beacon built in 1858 after the tragic Dunbar shipwreck.
Further on, your guide points out military sites from the past and present.
As you walk at a leisurely pace, your guide shares stories about historic sights and natural landmarks along the route. Soak up spectacular views of the headlands, Sydney Harbour and the city skyline as you walk along stunning coastal trails. It’s amazing to think that you're just a short hop from bustling Sydney!
After your scenic walking tour, board the ferry to Circular Quay where your tour ends.
Please note: A reasonable level of fitness is required for the walk, and you’ll need to wear comfortable walking shoes. It’s recommended that you carry with you a half liter minimum of drinking water, plus snacks, sunscreen, a hat, and a raincoat.
