2 adults and 2 children under 8 years. The whole family loved the seal show and bird show. Not only was it highly entertaining, but educational and reinforced the importance of being a responsible sustainable citizen. We thought the staff were very helpful and informative when it came to the kids questions about the animals. Even though we didn’t partake in it, there was a challenging high ropes course which I look forward to completing with the kids when they are a bit older. There were lots of toilets, including disabled, and plenty of cafes and restaurants. To save money, we took our own food and drinks and easily found picnic tables and grass areas to eat from or relax in. The exhibits were large, clean and stimulating for the animals. Whist it could a little expensive to enter, it is obvious the Zoo invests their money into the animals and their surrounds to make for a educational and inquisitive environment for the whole family. A definite MUST for a holiday activity.
I had never seen a kangaroo, wallabies, Emu, or wombats, but this zoo had all the animals I wanted to see. I have seen the koalas before, but this zoo definitely had more. Some of them awake! My favorite part was the Australian walkabout which basically is a wide open space with no fence between you and the animals. I feel like they could have come up to us and we can pet them. It was definitely the best zoo experience I had so far. The unexpected part was how you can see the city from the zoo. It really had a great view of the city and the water so you were able to see the a giraffe with the background of the whole Sydney skyline. I would highly recommend this spot to any visitors.
Great zoo! Beautiful exhibits and it is a marvel that it is built into a "hill." We tried to buy a behind the scenes tour, but Viator doesn't update their website quickly enough and all the behind the scenes tours were sold out -wasting valuable time to find this out! Advice: book a behind the scenes tour ASAP, but even if you can't do that, you can still get up close to the kangaroos. You won't be able to hold a koala though. It's still a great opportunity!
Great family day out at Taronga Zoo. We caught the ferry from Circular Quay to the Zoo. When getting off the ferry, don't get on the bus, get the cablecar which takes you right across the top of the zoo to the entrance, gives you great views of the zoo and also the City. You can book to have your photos take with the Koala's etc for $20 AUD, the kids loved it.
My trip was totally awsome. Everything went completely smoothly with no hicups.
I would certinally do it again like this.
Despite the bad weather myself and everyone in the group had a fabulous day and is looking forward to visiting again.....
Very good displays and insightful talks from the staff. So glad they are promoting animal protection and sustaining species.
Was a informative and fun trip, great destination and so easy to get to and to get around
Our trip to this was perhaps the most memorable of all. It was excellent, the animals and all. A definite must!
Tips: Go on the Sky Gondola ride first before entering the animals exhibit. It's worth the pleasure.
Taronga zoo was absolutely awesome and worth the money going to buy an annal pass and go back again loved it :)
