The zoo has a diverse range of displays and attractions that transports you to different natural environments. The seal show and bird show are both a highlight - entertaining and informative. However a trip to Taronga Zoo is worth it for the Sky Safari gondola ride alone from the harbour foreshore to top of the zoo, and back providing wonderful views. As a matter of fact the whole zoo has stunning views back over sydney harbour to the city that you can take in as you make your way through the native to overseas exhibits. You couldnt ask for a better panorama of the city. The zoo is set on the winding hillside of the north harbour and is a perfect setting, very appealing for families or visitors to sydney.
Great views of the city and the animals. Educational and fun for all. Be sure to bring your own food though, as the food options here, like with any theme park, its low quality food with high pricing.
What a great zoo! Really enjoyed the whole experience: From the ferry trip over and the cable car ride up the hill, to the wonderful animals in their great habitats. Not to be missed!
2 adults and 2 children under 8 years. The whole family loved the seal show and bird show. Not only was it highly entertaining, but educational and reinforced the importance of being a responsible sustainable citizen. We thought the staff were very helpful and informative when it came to the kids questions about the animals. Even though we didn’t partake in it, there was a challenging high ropes course which I look forward to completing with the kids when they are a bit older. There were lots of toilets, including disabled, and plenty of cafes and restaurants. To save money, we took our own food and drinks and easily found picnic tables and grass areas to eat from or relax in. The exhibits were large, clean and stimulating for the animals. Whist it could a little expensive to enter, it is obvious the Zoo invests their money into the animals and their surrounds to make for a educational and inquisitive environment for the whole family. A definite MUST for a holiday activity.
I had never seen a kangaroo, wallabies, Emu, or wombats, but this zoo had all the animals I wanted to see. I have seen the koalas before, but this zoo definitely had more. Some of them awake! My favorite part was the Australian walkabout which basically is a wide open space with no fence between you and the animals. I feel like they could have come up to us and we can pet them. It was definitely the best zoo experience I had so far. The unexpected part was how you can see the city from the zoo. It really had a great view of the city and the water so you were able to see the a giraffe with the background of the whole Sydney skyline. I would highly recommend this spot to any visitors.
Great zoo! Beautiful exhibits and it is a marvel that it is built into a "hill." We tried to buy a behind the scenes tour, but Viator doesn't update their website quickly enough and all the behind the scenes tours were sold out -wasting valuable time to find this out! Advice: book a behind the scenes tour ASAP, but even if you can't do that, you can still get up close to the kangaroos. You won't be able to hold a koala though. It's still a great opportunity!
Great family day out at Taronga Zoo. We caught the ferry from Circular Quay to the Zoo. When getting off the ferry, don't get on the bus, get the cablecar which takes you right across the top of the zoo to the entrance, gives you great views of the zoo and also the City. You can book to have your photos take with the Koala's etc for $20 AUD, the kids loved it.
My trip was totally awsome. Everything went completely smoothly with no hicups.
I would certinally do it again like this.
Despite the bad weather myself and everyone in the group had a fabulous day and is looking forward to visiting again.....
Very good displays and insightful talks from the staff. So glad they are promoting animal protection and sustaining species.
Was a informative and fun trip, great destination and so easy to get to and to get around
Our trip to this was perhaps the most memorable of all. It was excellent, the animals and all. A definite must!
Tips: Go on the Sky Gondola ride first before entering the animals exhibit. It's worth the pleasure.
Taronga zoo was absolutely awesome and worth the money going to buy an annal pass and go back again loved it :)
Fantastic Zoo, not to be missed. Really need a day and a half to 2 days to see it all. Take the ferry over and then the gondola ride at the zoo to get a good overview to start. This is one of the best zoo's and enclosures and variety of animals in the world!
We didn't have to wait in line here. Because we had pre-paid tickets. The line was very long due to easter holiday and we were smart enough to have pre-paid ticket. Our wait time was again about ten to 15 seconds because of our pre-paid ticket. The zoo itself was one of the best I have been to.
