What You Can Expect
Your guide meets you at the designated time to start your 1.5-hour Australian Animals tour. Walking around the grounds with your guide, you'll learn first-hand about the animals, keepers and zoo operations. Find out detailed information about the kangaroo, wallaby, echidna, koala, Australian birds and more during your tour, which also explores a replica of a sandstone gorge that is typical of those found in the Blue Mountains. Remember to bring your camera for great photo ops with the critters.
Get the VIP treatment as you visit off-limits areas of the zoo and enjoy face-to-fur interactions with the animals. Since your small-group numbers have a maximum of six participants, you'll have an intimate and personalized experience with a knowledgeable guide showing you around the zoo and its inner core. It's the perfect tour for animal lovers!
After your guided tour, enjoy the rest of the day to explore the zoo at your leisure. If you have worked up an appetite, there are several restaurant and cafe options available, with sit-down or casual dining choices that you can choose. Taronga Zoo also has many picnic areas. You are welcome to bring your own picnic to enjoy while soaking in spectacular views that overlook Sydney Harbour.
The easiest way to get to the zoo is by ferry. Not only is it convenient but a great way to see the spectacular Sydney Harbour. Ferries depart from Wharf 2 at Circular Quay every 30 minutes.
Once you have arrived at Taronga Wharf, take the Sky Safari gondola for a ride high over the zoo grounds. over looking Sydney's most famous landmarks and giving you a bird's-eye view over the zoo inhabitants, ending at the top entrance of the zoo. Alternatively, take the zoo's bus shuttle that meets every ferry.
Great behind the scenes tour of the zoo. Guides were very knowledgeable and enjoyed showing the zoo.
Had bad weather but they made it work. The animals were wonderful!
Wonderful experience and the private guide was wonderful. We experienced the zoo upfront and behind the scenes, with a full explanation of the goals and feeding and care of the animals. It was a very relaxing experience in which we not only got to view but pet the animals. All of the animals of Australia are represented including the horticulture. The return on the sky tram was great!!!
Amazing up close and personal tour with Australian animals. There were 4 of us with 2 guides. Educational, interesting and fun. Guides were extremely knowledgeable and were able to answer all questions. Highly recommend for older children and adults who love animals. Tour ran 2 hours.
This was the best zoo experience we ever had. We had a private tour with two volunteers and were treated like royalty. It was fascinating to go behind the scenes and see and touch the animals native to Australia. We would highly recommend this tour.
A lovely tour of the zoo and a look behind the scenes and what's more I had two of the volunteer staff to escort me around I felt very special
I really enjoyed this private tour! The zoo is open to the public, but through this private tour, I was provided with two lovely tour guides that took me to special parts of the zoo not open to the general public, and able to have my photo taken laying down next to a kangaroo. The two tour guides were very knowledgeable with the animals. I highly recommend this tour!
A fantastic tour and it was amazing to be able to go in with some of the animals and see them close up. The tour guides were very friendly and knowledgable. A thoroughly enjoyable day out.
Awesome zoo, great tour!
