We really liked this walking tour. A very nice introduction to the history of Sydney. The guide was very knowledgeable and helpful. The wine tasting was rather limited - it wasn't a 'described wine' tasting, but rather a $7.50 credit which worked on an automated set up -- enough for two small tastings out of a large variety of wines with no description of the wines or the wineries.
The BBQ on the other hand was excellent. One choose the type of meat and then cooked it yourself on a large grill. My wife and I had lamb, others had beef or even fish or skewers.
All in all, good value for money here.
This was a great walking tour and Michelle was a great host! There was only 4 people in our group so it was really personal!
Only my husband and I were in this "group" tour so it was really one-on-one information. We learned quite a lot about the history of Sydney and Australia. Unfortunately, the place we had dinner was very, very noisy and we could not really talk to each other or the guide; however, the guide admitted they needed to pick a different place in the future.
This was a very pleasant way to spend an evening away from the 40 other people I was travelling with. In fact I had 3 guides all to myself. The two Stuarts from Perth and Madeline from the tour company in Sydney. Between them I learned all about the First Fleet, the Rum Corp and many fascinating tales of triumph over adversity by those early settlers. In between paragraphs, I was introduced to a genial little wine tasting bar, a famous pub and a novel restaurant where you cook your own meat. Strolling around in the early evening warmth was a real treat away from the necessary airconditioned atmosphere of those big hotels. Well worth doing.
