The tour will take you upstream the only navigable river in French Polynesia. Considered the original source of migration by the Maori (or Maohi, as the Tahitians call themselves) to the far reaches of Polynesia, Hawaii and New Zealand (the famous Polynesian Triangle). The FAAROA has great historical significance to the Polynesians. Upon his arrival in Raiatea, Captain Cook noted that logs were floated down the river to build the numerous ships that were under construction.
Along the way, discover the lush vegetation of a tropical forest boarded with wild Hibiscus, Purau trees, bamboo groves and "mape" trees (Polynesian chestnut trees).
Departing from the river next you will visit a small "motu" (islet) and have the opportunity to swim in the beautiful lagoon of Raiatea and relax on the sandy beach of the motu under the shadow of coconut trees.
