The Taroko Gorge trip was excellent. The guides at each end of the train trip were brilliant. We fitted a lot in at the gorge and lunch had to be rescheduled due to roadworks but the guide did a great job of sorting it all out and keeping us updated. The gorge itself was unforgettable. Would definitely recommend this tour.
Comfortable tour with great views and walks. Fabulous Jacqueline was our guide.
Great tour! Josephine was wonderful and it was very impressive that she managed to conduct the tour in English, Chinese and Japanese at the same time. The scenery was amazing and we stopped at all the best places for photos. Lunch was pretty good, but I wish there was just a little more food.
For anybody going on this tour: there is a bit of hiking involved so wear sturdy shoes. Bring water, sunscreen, a hat and snacks. The air conditioning on the train is freezing so make sure you have a jacket - it's also a really long trip so bring headphones and music or something to occupy the time.
It was a great tour and I look forward to doing it again when I bring my partner to Taiwan!
A great full-day trip. The local tour operator was excellent, with all of the drivers and guides very professional and courteous. As for the gorge it was stunning. Do it!!!
This was a very nice tour and a great value for the price. The tour guide was very cheerful and funny and made for a really great day of exploring the Taroko Gorge.
I was praying for good weather and it worked perfectly. sunny, hot, great visibility. Very well arranged starting with hotel pick up and hotel drop off. we were all well cared of. Josephine was great, all parts of the tour interesting. Money well spent. Original lunch.
We really enjoyed this tour! We had a sunny day and the gorge was beautiful! Josephine was very knowledgeable and kept us all on track. I wish that they had told us that the visit to the marbleworks was really an opportunity to shop. That said, I was happy with the gifts I did purchase.
Great tour. Josephine was a fantastic tour guide - kept everyone (and everything) on track and on time. Gorge is amazing. It and #39;s up there as one of the top sites in Asia. Highly recommended.
Amazing trip and breathless sights! Josephine is a great tour guide. We were a small group, so she took us further and allowed us to do more adventures then normal. I would do this again!

Beautiful! Magical! A trek to the Water Curtain Cave is a must. The scenic walk there is not to be missed and crossing the veil of a live waterfall is exhilarating. Our guide, Josephine, broke all the rules to make sure we had the best experience possible.
Great tour, the gorge was very scenic, the guides were great, and overall a great experience
Well organised and definitely worth doing. Lunch was particularly outstanding in a 5 hotel and really good quality food. Josephine the tour guide was very lively and knowledgeable.
very scenic and interesting, great knowledgeable guide.
Lunch much better than anticipated or on most tours
Great trip and we were even blessed with great weather, despite the typhoon coming the next day. Fabulous views, interesting stops, and a great lunch at the hotel in the gorge. This is a definite MUST if you want to see the beautiful aspects of Taiwan's nature and mountains. Josephine was a kick and kept the trip pretty lively. Even the 2-hour train ride to and back was lovely. I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone coming to Taiwan to visit, and it's not one you can do on your own.
Great tour and guides. Everything went smoothly and the 5 star lunch was a surprise.
Taroko Gorge is a gem. I'm glad to have sampled it and wish I could have spent more time on the trails. Josephine, the self-anointed queen of Taroko was a wonderful guide and she kept us on schedule.
The organization was splendid. They picked me up at the said time 5.30, and a few hours later I was in Hualien. I saw a lot of things, the view was breathtaking, nice lunch with specially made vegetarian dishes for me. It was a great tour and I would highly recommend this to anybody having a spare day in Taipei! Buy your souvenirs in the aboriginal village, they are very nice and not expensive.
This area is so beautiful and a wonderful sight to see. I loved the seamless part of the travel and just enjoying sitting back without having to do all the legwork. I tend to do most of my own travel planning, but this tour was perfect to just sit back and enjoy. For me the train ride was a bit long, but if you only have a day to experience this area this tour works out perfectly. The scenery along the way is wonderful and the two different trains there and back had large windows to soak in the views while traveling to/from Hualien. I loved that the tour included stops along the route through the gorge for pictures and seeing the beauty of the gorge. The scenery was breathtaking and our tour guide the Lion Lady was great!
This trip was amazing! The gorge is beautiful! Josephine was our tour guide and she was very funny and interesting to talk to!
Good tour with a great guide and driver. The tour group was small just 3 of us and we were able to hike up a lot actually for the great views ourselves. Lunch was awesome - included at a nice expensive restaurant just for the tour.
Before booking, I read all the wonderful reviews about the Taroko Gorge. I agree with them... The Gorge is breathtaking. The guides are friendly and knowledgeable. The Chinese lunch was quite good! However, I will share my tips about the trains.
The morning train to the gorge is a bit over 3 hours and while comfortable and cool with the AC, the bathroom was a squatty potty. Now, I can use a squatty potty better than most, but the train was also seriously rough and bouncy. There wasn't even a bar to hold onto and the urine from the previous person was sloshing about. I would suggest skipping your morning coffee. I just couldn't stomach the bathroom.
So naturally I was nervous about the train ride home and I avoided drinking too much water throughout the day. That was unnecessary as the train home was more like the Narita Express if you've visited Tokyo. Comfortable seats, snack cart coming through, vending machines on the train, AND a great Western toilet. Plus this ride was much, much smoother. I should have bought a beer at the station and enjoyed my two hours on a much quicker, luxury ride back to Taipei.
Yes, please visit the gorge, but just plan ahead. I wish I had known to skip the morning coffee.
Excellent tour, great day trip. Strongly recommended if you want to escape Taipei for a day and visit the interior. The guides were friendly and informative and took good care of us. The views are spectacular, the gorge is well worth a visit.
