Vicente Martinez-Ybor founded the city in the 1880s as a cigar-manufacturing center in Tampa Bay, aptly naming it after himself -- Ybor City. Your guide will lead you down La Septima Avenida (Seventh Avenue) or ‘Broadway,’ as it is more fondly known by residents. Considered one of the American Planning Association's (APA) ‘Great Streets’ in America, La Septima Avenida highlights the history and culture that made this neighborhood so colorful in the late 19th and early 20th century.

The Ybor City Walking Tour given by Lonnie Herman was very enjoyable and educational. Lonnie is well versed on Ybor City and imparts his knowledge by sharing interesting facts along the way. The walking tour is a "must do" for locals and visitors alike. Be sure you schedule your tour with Lonnie Herman, though! He's the BEST!
