to start with the instructions and tickets were waiting for me at my Tokyo hotel before I booked in. The instructions were easy to understand. I opted for the late train time and I thought I would give up some time in each of the cities but this was not the case the way the train times went there was plenty of time to look around. Seating on the train is reserved and they booked window seats on all journeys. The hotels were 1st class and a lot better than I expected, the bonus was they were only 5 minutes from the train stations so not much carrying luggage around. I was only in Japan for 7 days and wanted to see more than Tokyo, if visiting other sites is something you want to do I would highly recommend this tour

I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who would like to experience the real Japan. This was definitely the highlight of our trip. Also, thanks to Walter for being so helpful with our questions. The hotels were amazing and we didn't have to worry about anything as everything was booked for us.

What great value! Everything was straightforward and easy to follow. The hotels were amazing and couldn't have been more convenient. I would recommend taking the early morning trains so you maximize your time in Kyoto and have the option of leaving later in unreserved cars. The cars are all the same beautiful. I would recommend traveling with as little luggage as you can so you can enjoy the experience without the hassle of the bags. I too would recommend going to the Peace Park on day of arrival and utilizing those hours so that you can either return or go to the Island the following day. A good restaurant near the Museum across the street with the Peace Bridges is Mario's Italian! Even National Geographic tourists were eating there! Another day in Hiroshima would have been nice.

This trip is fantastic! Arrived Tokyo on Sunday evening and the train tickets were waiting for us at our hotel. From that moment everything worked perfectly, and the hotels were better than I expected. No breakfast included but because the hotels are in or very close to train stations, there are plenty of great food options within reach. For Hiroshima, I would recommend doing the peace park etc on day of arrival and then Miyajima on Day 2. Enjoy!

I was traveling to Tokyo alone and was a little bit cautious about paying for something were I did not receive my ticket straight away. However I decided to go ahead, my hotel was not listed so I imputed the address and contact number I received an email a day or two after from a real person asking me to confirm this, payment was then made. The tickets was delivered to my hotel about 3 days before departure and had all the times, schedules and tips needed. It was really easy!! hotels were right next to the train station and the rooms and hotels were extremely nice. Considering I am a massive worrier, I did not panic once as it was so well organised. This was one of the highlights of my trip and would book my trips through Viator again. If you are unsure, I hope I can assure you that if I can do it on my own at 22 being a big worrier then you can!!

Great value, if only for the planning. Not a single problem during the whole 3 days. Tickets, reserved seats on the Bullet Trains and two excellent hotels. The hotel in Kyoto has a Tour Desk where you can book the Morning Tour on arrival for the next day. In Hiroshima, just ask Hotel Reception for a Day Pass JPY400 on the Loop Bus. The Red and Green Routes take you everywhere you're likely to want to visit. Simple!

The hotels of this trip are in such great, central locations and were comfortable as well! Shinkansen tickets were easy to use - just know you can't get on any earlier trains if you decide not to use on the pre-reserved seat - you can only get on later trains if non-reserved seats are available.

This trip was perfect and provided great value for the money. Having everything booked and bought for you is very convenient. My one suggestion for improvement is to allow for adding extra days to either Kyoto or Hiroshima so you could maybe make it a 4 or 5 day trip where everything is still booked for you and you just pay the difference of extra days at each hotel.

Also note, for this package you must have a local Japanese address with a Japanese person of the house to receive the tickets. I.e. you must be at a hotel or staying with someone you know. The tour company wasn't willing to send it to an AirBnB even though it was a local address since I didn't own the house and technically wasn't the person of the house. It worked out because I was able to have the package sent to a friends house, but would've had to cancel otherwise.

Hotels were amazing! Train trip was perfect!
Location to station was sensational!
Everything was fantastic!! It would have been nice to have a recommendation sheet for where to eat and what to see. But not necessary.

Well worth it if you are able to find your way on your own and get around both Kyoto and Hiroshima on your own. One thing to note as well, the tickets they give you for the bullet train are good up to 7 days from the date on the ticket. So we did not necessarily have to leave at the designated time that was assigned on our ticket. And the bullet trains come to Tokyo station quite often, so we left when we felt like 2 of us got to Kyoto, checked in to our hotel, rented a bike and saw all the sites we wanted. Then in Hiroshima, we spent the time at the A-bomb site and went to the Itsukushima Shrine. We left the next day on the last bullet train back to Tokyo. It was great in terms of freedom and having everything ready for us to use, while going about our own plans one of us can read and speak Japanese.

We would highly recommend this trip to anyone like us who had just a few days to enjoy Japan. The organisation was excellent, the hotels were lovely and so conveniently located adjacent to the Shinkansen stations in Kyoto and Hiroshima, and the train tickets/hotel vouchers were delivered to our Tokyo hotel 2 days before. The Nozomi bullet train experience was wonderful.

The tickets were waiting for us when we arrive in Tokyo. I was concerned when the itinerary said to make our way to the hotel, but the hotel each night was right next to the train station so we didn't have to catch a taxi or navigate anywhere. The hotels were very nice as well.

Tickets were waiting for me when I checked into my hotel in Tokyo. Well worth getting the tickets and hotel booked ahead. Kyoto and Hiroshima were good walking destinations with lots of history and character.
Hotels were superb, well located, clean and well staffed. Highly recommended for those who wants to tour at
their own pace, the late departure out of Tokyo was an excellent decision, more relaxed.

The tour went pretty much as planned except for our return trip to Tokyo. Our 4 hour Nozomi 'fast train' trip turned into a 7 hour odyssey due to a powerful earthquake off the coast of Japan. We were stuck in a tunnel for 1.5 hours then crept back to Yokyo after the 'all clear' . So late returning.

One must not missed this! We would have preferred to have had a Guide meet us in Kyoto and Hiroshima too, as there are many things we couldn't quite appreciate due to the minimal English info available to be able to truly appreciate the history of Kyoto.
Hiroshima was a very moving experience and there were more info here on English. I think everyone who visits Japan must come here to be part of history.
Both our hotels in Kyoto and Hiroshima were excellent.

Great hotel rooms right by the station... Needed an extra day in hiroshima and Yamaguchi- was disappointed the Bullet train ticket back to tokyo only good for day issued. this meant
I had to cough up for 3 seats Yamaguchi to Tokyo on my own. Despite this being an independent tour,
you guys should really attach some material on both cities.

Crowds in Kyoto were overwhelming. Was very difficult and time consuming to arrange our own tour guides.
