Although the weather was bad, the guide and experience was good. The lunch was typical Japanese and my wife and I did not feel it was worth the money. The hotel had an Italian restaurant that would have been cheaper to eat at than what we paid.
Our tour was fantastic. Our guide Mika was amazing, she imparted loads of facts and info about Japan without making us feel like we were being lectured to- she was great.
Each stop we made was quite short but very different, well organised too. I'd recommend this trip to anyone.
Great day out, and well worth the money! Our guide was very professional and informative and all in all it was a fantastic day out.
You don't really need to book the lunch (unless you want to of course), as its nicer sitting out by the lake with your own food (there are shops and restaurants all around which are cheaper than the lunch option)
Good arrangement, we have a chance to visit three places within a day.
This was a great trip for us - especially the cruise on Lake Ashi - a very very scenic and fantastic experience. Unfortunately because of fog we could not see Mount Fuji, otherwise a wonderful trip.
Great although a slightly rushed trip at Hakone, but guide was excellent and entertaining ( 'Fish' ) .We had a glorious day at Mount Fuji , but I would advise buy your own lunch as plenty of alternative eating places at same rest stop.We took the option of staying at Lake Hakone ending our trip at Odawara , and waking up to a beautiful clear morning lake view at Hakone hotel ( the tour guide was kind enough to drop us off on the way back ) .Other travellers took option of returning to Tokyo by bullet train from Odawara .I would recommend the Hakone rail pass train from Tokyo and 2/3 days around lake Hakone ( train tram boat circuits ) if you can , however Viator was a great way to travel to Mount Fuji .We used our japan rail pass from Odawara the next day managing to squeeze in the volcano egg cooking experience , numerous cable cars and the train back to Odawara then onto Kyoto . Japan travel is so organised that every trip by boat tram cable car or train linked up seamlessly so no hanging about wasting time .The trip was well organised and our tour guide knowledgeable and relaxing .Well recommended
Perfect day with hotel pick up on schedule and all sights visible with great weather. Guide very knowledgeable, but mumbled between sentences which made sometimes dificult to understand in back of bus. Would most definetly recommend this tour.
A nice full day trip to Mt. Fuji with an included boat trip on Lake Ashi. Unfortunately the weather did not let us see the top of the mountain, but it was still a very fun trip. We chose to return by bullet train, which was a very interesting and new experience. Worth the extra charge.
The tour guide provided very comprehensive information about Japan . It's like a combination of a city tour and a mt Fuji tour. Along the way she provided us a macro view of Japan. They picks us up on time at the hotel and the drop off point after the tour was also very convenient
Not bad at all. Our tour guide, Yoko, was great. She shared with us many aspects of Japanese culture while on the road.
Of the 3 Viator tours we did on our trip, this was the best. If you are staying at the Shinjuku Washington Hotel, there is a checking area in the lobby to walk you to the bus. The bus we had was nice and the AC was cool, which is important as our tour date was July 24 (90 deg F/70% humidity). The bus took us to the Hamamatsucho bus station where we boarded another bus to Mt. Fuji. Our tour guide was an expert on Mt. Fuji having been a hiking guide for 30+ yrs. His English was quite good and he regaled us with the history of Japan, working in the political and religious events which tied in nicely to Mt. Fuji's importance in Japanese society. We stopped every hour or for bathroom breaks, shopping, etc. We stopped first at the Mt. Fuji visitor center for a quick rest-stop before heading up the mountain. The sights were wonderful. We stopped at the 5th station where there is a small shopping village and had about 45 minutes of free time. From there we headed to lunch at a beautiful restaurant and had a wonderful lunch of tempura, rice miso soup and pickled veggies--we all left full. We proceeded to Lake Ashi and caught a 15 minute ferry to another shopping area where a gondola took us over Hakone--not to be missed! We returned to Shinjuku at approx. 8pm. However, a lightning storm moved in, lighting up the sky and soaking the area. We stayed in the air conditioned bus until it let up (slightly) which was really nice of the bus driver and tour guide. Note the bus did not drop-off at the hotels at the conclusion of the tour--it ended, rather, at Shinjuku station,
All in all, this was worth every penny and wouldn't hesitate to do it again. The lunch alone was $20-25 buck per person, not to mention the gondola and ferry rides. The ride was smooth and cool and the guide was great. One thing to note is they plan the itinerary out, so it is advised (strongly) to stick to the allotted times at each stop.
Great tour, our tour guide Harumi was amazing and such a great character, she sure made it a memorable time. We didn't see everything we expected due to the weather however it was not the company's fault. Get the tour with lunch, perfect meal and no worries. I highly recommend this tour to all.
Well worth the cost -- you would have to put in considerable effort to do it yourself. We also had the lunch which in a nice dining room at a popular hotel. Mount Fuji Station 5 was very touristy but it got us up to the snowline. Tokyo dropoff at night was in the Ginza area.
Great weather helped to look at Mt. Fuji.
Always rushing and felt short of time.
Would have loved to have little extra time at Mt. Fuji.
This was wonderful largely due to our most gracious guide Amy. We got a very comprehensive Japanese snapshot. Thank you Amy!!!
Weather wasn't cooperating, but the guide made all the difference. Wonderful experience.
I was lucky to se Mt Fuji! But it certainly was hazy! Tour was rushed, but I do not want anybody to waste my time. 40 minutes was spent at 5th Station, but it is done in 20 so that was fine with me. If you are a person that needs proper food every meal you should order this tour with lunch. I am not a meat eater so I skipped that (I thought I could not eat the food so that was I did not order tour with lunch) but fish was served so I could have eaten, but the restaurant is just for tours so you have to find food elsewhere in the little town and it has to go fast! 40 minutes to find a restaurant, eat and pay is not much. I had corn on a cob and a potatoes with butter at 5th station so i went to Lawson for an ice cream as a dessert.
We were able to reach Gate 5 which gave us a incredible closeness to Mt Fuji. The tour was very well organized very lucky with the weather on Mt Fuji but not the cable car which was breath taking until the fog rolled in, but still fantastic. The lunch was excellent as was the trip on the lake providing again some great photo opportunities of Mt Fuji. Would recommend this tour to all but check your weather conditions in advance as we did and we were very lucky
Can't go to Japan without seeing Fuji-san. Magnificant and beautiful. Tour was great and provided a lot of information. Very easy and convenient way to see a lot in a little time.
