I wanted to see both the old and the new Tokyo. This Nikko World Heritage tour gives you the opportunity to see some of Japan's landscape and its older heritage. The location is a couple hours away from Tokyo, so it is not easy to get to on your own. The bus ride gives you a scenic view or the opportunity to sleep and catch up on jet lag! There is ample time at the Toshogu shrine and for lunch. Too bad there's not enough time to go down to the base of the Kegon Waterfall; you can only take pictures from a viewing platform. There's enough time to buy some souvenirs or trinkets at the Toshogu Shrine or at the Lake Waterfall as well.

The guide was excellent and had a wealth of information. Nikko itself was quite crowded, but still worth the visit. The most elaborate and interesting shrine I visited. Well organized and the excellent guide made it worthwhile. Would prefer more time at the shrine. The waterfall and lake were not particularly interesting.

Bus pickup well organized. At station, the bus to Nikko was late, and it was confusing that another bus with the same number was at the same door but was going to another tour spot. Bus seating tight for larger people, but I was able to be reseated in the back of the bus. Long ride to Nikko, one rest stop. Tour at Nikko very good, but many stone steps without handrails and 2 times we had to remove shoes to go inside. Lots of time for pictures on the way back to bus. Bathroom facilities traditional Japanese style at shrine area. Lunch was good, and the ride up the zigzag highway pleasant. Very little time at the lake; I hurried to even get in a restroom break as it was quite a ways from the bus, and the waterfall was beautiful with a nice platform overlook. Bus ride down has even more sharp turns, and many in the bus were concerned with rapid descent. Long ride back to Tokyo, one rest stop. Drop-off unsettling if you are unfamiliar with Tokyo at night, but guides do what they can to get you to the right place.

The trip was very good, unfortunately, while the rain poured down, it didn't spoil the day. The low cloud base didn't let us see the Kegon Waterfall or Lake Chuzenji, but once again, everything was well organized.

It was a wonderful experience, beautiful sights and a lovely lunch. However, on this trip there are about 200 steps to hike up. The steps are quite high, and it was difficult for some of the participants to manage the stairs. Maybe the difficulty should be mentioned in the description of the trip.

I enjoyed it greatly. The sites were wonderful to visit, though the tour guide could have been more informative and knowledgeable about the locations.

The Nikko temples and lunch in Nikko town were excellent, and the 48 hairpins on the way to the lake were fantastic. It was beautiful in the mountains.

Lots of time on a bus even if the scenery is interesting, so less time than ideal to see sights at Nikko, but well orchestrated. And definitely worth the trip.

It rained that day, but Nikko's site's are worth seeing. Kegon Waterfall is beautiful, but not overwhelmingly so. Sunrise tour guides need to try to wait for most of the group to be there before they start their comments and to make sure they're easy to find.

A good day trip, though it took a little longer to get there than I expected. The Shrine is very interesting but the lake and waterfall are time fillers. The guide was very good.

Final destination was fine but did not realize the bus ride was so long each way.

Nice trip. Tour guide was fantastic. I learned more about Shoguns and Emperors of Japan than I ever imagined. He was funny, interesting and very, very informative. I would love to have stayed overnight in Nikko. Why not do a trip with an optional overnight stay. I also think the bus should have a toilet for the customers to use, although the stop on the expressway is a nice touch and should be continued. I'd definitely recommend this trip to friends.
