Small group made this experience very worth while. We had a very nice couple who's family made wine in their family for decades. They chipped in the maker's side of the story while learning how to taste wine!
My wife and myself were the only participants at our late February 2012 tasting. Our hostess/presenter was very knowledgeable, had prepared ahead of time, and seemingly enjoyed taking her time to present and discuss. She covered basic wine tasting techniques and wine evaluation. She added value beyond what was described in the tasting blurb, for example, by having vials of odors to compare to the bouquet of the wines. She did well handling our wide variety of questions that went beyond the wines in front of us. She spoke very good English. The wines were all of good quality and true to their type. There were small amounts of three interesting cheeses. We had not had young pecorino before. The two extra virgin olive oils we had were eye opening as we had not treated olive oils like wines before. How to make this better? Have more wines, as Tuscany has many more types than were represented at this tasting.
Unfortunately my Husband took ill at the tasting and the staff were amazing in helping me get an ambulance and assistance with getting back to our accommodation. We are sorry that we missed this as it was starting to be a good evening......
Zeno was great. Very knowledgable and answered all our questions. Tasting involved approx eight different wines and the cheese was fantastic. As we progressed through he different wines he explained where each was produced and how. If you like wine this is a must do!
A great time was had by all. My husband enjoyed learning about Italian wine. My daughter and I enjoyed sampling the wine. A five star evening.
This was very informative and a great opportunity to taste different olive oils and balsamic vinegars.
The wine tasting was fabulous! We shared tasting of at least 9 wines with some great fun folks - Manuele was a great leader and very passionate about the product they have chosen to serve in their lovely little wine bar. A great evening - highly recommend this wine tasting!
The tasting took place in the wine cellar of a small cantina across the square from the Palazzo Pitti. Despite being relatively young, our host, one of the cantina's owners, knew more about wine than I can ever imagine. He went above and beyond what was described in the Viator listing and made sure everyone had a great time. Another couple there were pressed for time due to a restaurant reservation, so our host called the restaurant (he happened to know the owner personally) and arranged to move the reservation back so they could finish the tasting. It was a great time - we learned a lot about wine and tried some great varieties. I will do it again when I go back to Florence.
Zeno is amazing!! He gave us more than the advertised. We had 11 wines!! My husband and I had dinner at the enoteca 3 times. Zeno wants you to choose a wine that you want to try, and he will recommend a corresponding wine. I heartily recommend this activity.
Fantastic experience. The guide was so knowledgeable about wines and has such a passion for what he does. It was amazing and I highly recommend it! One of the highlights of our trip! I can't say enough how wonderful this experience was.
Possibly the best evening of our stay. Three hours of being drunk "up the menu" by an expert who was incredibly passionate about his subject, no hard sell to buy the wine afterwards (although you WILL want to), 12 different wines to taste not the advertised 4, detailed commentary on each one down to the name, age, and personality of the vinyard owner or aerial pictures showing exactly which slope of the hill that wine came from. Cheese was almost incidental to the evening, but who cares when the wine was so great? Can't recommend this enough.
This wine and cheese tour FAR exceeded our expectations! It was truly the highlight of our trip. The owners of this Cantina are extremely knowledgeable and entertaining.
