Tours, sightseeing tours, activities & things to do | Viator.comFlorence Music Tour with Accademia Gallery
Accompanied by your own private guide, experience privileged entrance and a guided tour of the Accademia Gallery on this luxury private tour. You'll admire a fabulous collection of fifty musical instruments dating from the late 17th to early 19th centuries and formerly belonging to members of the Medici and Lorraine families.
Among the most interesting instruments on display are a tenor viola by Antonio Stradivari, a cello which formed part of the same quintet of strings made in 1690 for Grand Prince Ferdinando, a violin of 1716 by Stradivari and a cello of 1650 by Niccolo Amati. The Museum also displays two rare instruments by Bartolomeo Cristofori, the inventor of the piano, and the oldest vertical piano in existence.
The instruments are exhibited with paintings representing musicians at the Medici court. Computers enable you to hear the sound of all the instruments on view besides providing information on the history of music in Florence at the time of the grand-dukes.
Your private tour continues to visit the famous sculptures by Michelangelo, the Prisoners, the St. Matthew and, of course, the statue of David, a must-see for any visitor to Florence.
Make a special visit to a violin maker's workshop. The shop of Paolo Vettori and his sons is the only violin maker's workshop maintained through three generations producing fine stringed instruments on antique wood in Florence. You will admire the incredible process it takes to make one violin and Dario Vettori who will explain the many secrets of this unbelievable art.
This in-depth, private tour is hosted by an English-speaking guide. Please list any special interests you have (art, architecture, history, culture) at the time of booking to alert your guide, so that he or she can prepare for your private tour.
