A brilliant day out, worth every penny.
Some advice - be aware that the weather can effect the ability of the sea planes to fly, we were postponed by one day and ended up flying to and from whistler.
Also, do the gondola ride first and then hire bikes to follow some of the trails
This was the highlight of our trip. Saw mother and cub bears from the train and the float plane was awesome. Only snag was that the shuttle bus driver from the train told us that if the weather came in the flight may be cancelled and that he finished at 3pm. He omitted to tell us that if the flight was cancelled there would be someone there to meet us at 5.10pm to bus us back to Vancouver. This gave us a few anxious moments, but the information booth in Whistler gave us the facts.
120% RECOMMENDED!!! The SPECTACULAR veiws are not to be missed!
We travelled a long way from Australia and our group of 4 had the most wonderful day. The float plane from Vancouver to Whistler was a fantastic experience (magnificent views) and landing in the heart of Whistler on its main lake was breathtaking. The train trip back to Vancouver was also fantastic - very informative and great service by all of the staff. Highly recommend this trip.
Trip was amazing BUT nearly didn't get there as Viator made an error I. The booking so the float plane was full. Lots of phone calls and Harbour air (see plane company) got me a seat on the return trip. Lesson, check, check and double check. Highly recommend!!!!!!!
Everything worked out really well. Planetrip took 30 minutes. I had forgotten that do not like the slightest little bump, felt a bit sick, but really it was not bumpy - I am a sensitive human being. Whistler was nice to have seen. Very small, must have been over crowed during the Olympics. Bring a jacket - it was freezing cold the two first hours. Train trip home was nice and very well organised. Food was ok too.
We enjoyed this trip a great deal. The train was excellent and the gondola ride to the top of Whistler was spectacular. We took a float plane back to Vancouver and my husband got to be the co-pilot for the trip. He was so excited. Thanks.
Fantastic day, the flight organisation is very professional, so exciting taking off on Vancouver Bay and then up over the Rockies on a perfectly clear day, I was overwhelmed by the views. 5 minutes later landed at Whistler, ok it's an artificial village but it is very picturesque and 5 hours just chilling and eating before shuttle bust takes us to Whistler station to connect with the Rocky Mountaineer, again very professional if a little over the top. Each carriage has a steward, ours was a little too chatty on a 3 hour journey but spend time in the open carriage and just admire the scenery and then settle in for evening meal. A fabulous day, well worth the expense and something I will remember for the rest of my life. Excellent
The plane... (5 Stars) Probably the highlight of our vacation! (We did the plane in morning/train evening)... Professional operation, informative pilot, and great views from the plane (especially flying at 7300 ft over 6500 ft. mountain tops!) ... Best of all, I was invited to sit in the co-pilots seat which made the flight a special experience!
The Train (4-1/2 stars)... Overall, a better experience that I was expecting! Comfortable coaches, snacks, drink/salad on PM return. Really great views. Only minor negative, was that it was almost a 3-1/2 hr trip (the train only averaged 25-30 mph)
Whistler (3-1/2 stars)... OK. A few shops (they are all the same after a while), pretty good lunch on the patio (65 degrees/sunny!) Mostly just walked the main road and ended up waiting about 45 min for the eve bus to go back to train.
Viator (5 stars)... As usual, everything was WELL PACKAGED and PLANNED by Viator, and all at fair prices... Love these guys!
Great trip - The train ride was excellent. Our car attendant (Ken) was the best! The Floatplane trip back was beautiful. Worth the $.
Absolutely stunning scenery. the flight from Vancouver to Whistler wasn't turbulent at all and the sky was so clear. we passed over some glaciers and mountain peaks before landing in Whistler. Whistler is such a fun town!
Fabulous! If you only have time to do one trip - make it this one. Views are spectacular. Plenty of time in Whistler to eat, shop and do the Peak to Peak gondola. The Floatplane journey back is an experience not to be missed.
The whole experience was awesome and ran very smoothly! We travelled with our two kids 15 and 11 and they really loved the floatplane ride to Whistler. The customer service rep on the phone went out of his way to find dates that worked for us. I would use Viator tours again for any future tours in different cities.
Thank you for asking, the Train Trip to Whistler, the Gondola to the Mountain Peaks and the Floatplane back to Vancouver has been one of the most memorable experiences we had on our trip so far!!! Taking of from Whistler, flying along Mountain Peaks and landing in Vancouver Harbour was a Lifetime Experience we were lucky to have. Rolf + Hanna from Sydney Australia
our flight to Whistler was ok and on time. A shuttle-bus brought us into Whistler-Center - good organisation.
Another shuttle-bus returned us later to the railway-station. The train had a delay for about 1,5 hours - but on the train, there was a very good service.
The whole tour was very good organized - it was a nice trip !! Thankyou
Very organised tour from start to finish. Rocky mountaineer was excellent and float plane was an amazing experience. Good amount of free time in Whistler.
Flight superb, Peak to Peak Gondola not for those that fear heights.
Train trip slow but scenic.
Remember that flight is weather dependent. Not sure what happens if it is cancelled.
Best trip I have been on.Took the seaplane from Vancouver to Whistler awesome trip up the valley and then over the snowcovered moutains a wonderful trip, also flew over the waterfall. We had plenty to do in Whistler Peak to Peak gondola Blackcombe Mountain to Whistler Mountain and whistler hosted the 2010 Winter Olympics. Then at 1500 we boarded the Rockey Mountaineer back to Vancouver tremendous trip.
Altogeather a lovely trip
Great tour shame about viators not answering my questions. Book the tour but be aware that your on your own dealing with each individual element of thd tour. If you like cable car rides do the peak2peak ride glass bottomed car and buy your tickets on the train. You need around 5 hrs if you want to do most things in Whistler.
Everything we hoped it would be. Great views, food, and service on Train. Float plane ride was awesome for the return.
Great scenic tour. Travel through the mountains one way and over them the other. Plenty of time too at Whistler for sight seeing and the Peak-2-Peak.
This is one of a life-time experience! We were lucky with the weather - a sunny day perfect to enjoy the great views from the dome. Service was impeccable on the train, from start to finish – a nice breakfast, complementary drinks, and full attention from the crew. Once arriving in Whistler, we took the Gondola up - views were amazing! A 360-degree panorama, snowy peaks all around. The Gondola is worth it, bringing you to the top of the mountains, and we hiked some of our way down – perfect combination! The Peak-to-Peak Gondola is really special and going from Whistler to Blackcomb is really neat. The return on the float plane was a great end – we flew by glaciers on the left, the sea on the right and even got a nice sunset over Seattle. Planes are tiny but comfy and pilots definitely know their way around. Totally recommend this tour to anyone!
