Read what other Viator.com travelers think about the Cicchetti and Wine Tour of Venice’s Jewish Ghetto. What they loved, what they liked and what they think could be improved, it's all here to help you make the most of your next trip.
The only negative is that the tour is on Fridays and Saturdays and everything is closed for the Sabbath.
A wonderful experience with a talented tour guide!! Highly recommend this tour to see, taste and explore the area.
This was great fun and the appropriate thing to do on a Saturday night in Venice. Emanuella was a fantastic host and we enjoyed the Ghetto tour as well as quafing wine and cicchetti in three very interesting bacari.
This was a well organised fun tour. A good group, lots of conversation and pretty tasty food. Emmanuelle was a super guide with a lovely manner.
This tour was fascinating as we learnt about the history of the Jewish Ghetto as well as experiencing some of the local wine and cicchetti which were delicious. We wouldn't have had this experience if we had been on our own. The tour also included a lot of the surrounding area and it was interesting to see how the places linked up. The water transport described in the itinerary to reach the meeting point is expensive so check the map and walk if possible.
Loved it!! We met the guide at restuarant at the foot of Guglie Bridge with no problems. There was 8 of us on this tour all of which were very friendly and the guide was great too. We went into the Jewish Gheto which we loved and it was somewhere we returned back to during our trip. It has some nice restaurant/bars and great shops. All the bars we went to had a great atmosphere, wine and Cicchetti. The cicchetti was really tasty but it does only give you a flavour of Venice so id eat something before to soak the alcohol up; if like us you remained in the last bar for a few hours after. I'd recommend this tour earlier in your trip.
This was our first tour in Venice (on the evening of our arrival). It was a most pleasant way to get a feel for the city and have some nice eats and wine too. Francesca (with the darker hair) was a delightful hostess and guide - she took us to some very authentic eating/drinking establishments. This experience and history lesson was a great start to our vacation. I recommend this tour and Francesca.
Fun tour! Tour guide was very knowledgeable about this area and Venice as a whole. Good wine, good walk and ample delicious snacks.
The guide was very informative and the three stops at local bars were great fun
The tourguide was knowledgeable and personable. The small size of the group (4 plus guide) was also a plus. Snack quantity was ample enough to be called "dinner."
This tour was very good because it got us out of the tourist heavy areas of Venice and took us to a very different area. I doubt we would have gone here if not for the tour. The area was quiet and full of history. However, since it was getting darker earlier, and there not being lots of lights in Venice at night, it was difficult to see some of the buildings and areas our guide was pointing out. Otherwise the tour was a good experience.
This tour was awesome and a lot of fun (guess all the wine drinking didn't hurt either). We were shone a different Venice from the touristy area. The food was tasty, and the whole "excursion" was fun and interesting. A neighborhood where the real Venetians lived their lives.
An excellent and informative tour guide, as well.
Got a great tour to the "local" places. The wine glass sizes could have been a bit bigger. Food was f od
Turned in to a pub crawl and had to buy extra drinks and food as not enough food given.
Great area of venice. 9 of us on tour. Didn't learn a lot about Jewish Ghetto but thoroughly enjoyed the tour. More like a pub crawl withTapas. Great group of people. Would recommend this, atmosphere in bars was great, it was a Saturday evening when we went so not sure what mid week would be like? Caught the vaparetto to stop recommended. Was very busy lucky to get on first one and arrived with minutes to spare! Directions supplied were superb. Considering how easy it is to get lost in Venice finding meet point was easy. Walked back to St Marks square took us about 30 mins after end of tour. Do it you will enjoy.
Not enough historical detail or touring of actual sites; arrangements might be made to see a synagogue or speak with those with knowledgeable. The food at the first food sites were no more than satisfactory, while the wine was good. The food at the last stop was excellent fresh seafood.
Guide was very knowledgeable and nice evening walk around the Jewish quarter which I thought was one of the best places to visit and even stay. I would say the only problem was the "tasters" were 4 out of 5 fish and out of the small group of about 10-12 of us - not many were fish lovers and therefore we were left with not nice alternative. I think the guide was embarrassed about that but the places we visited were really unprepared for anything else but fish. It was however a really good way to meet people coming together from different countries so we did enjoy it we just did not like the tasty bites and even the fish lovers struggled one or two offers. All in all it was a nice way to spend the evening but I wouldnt do it again.
4 of us (2 couples) took this tour. OK intro to small businesses of Venice selling appetizers with your selection of wines. Post tour we all felt we could have done it on our own. A brief history of the Jewish Ghetto was included. No better than average.
Guide was lovely, but wine n food only good at first location, I swear the last place tried to pass off vinegar ...yucky!! very little description of the wine etc too.
We've taken walking food and wine tours before through Viator in Barcelona which we loved! The restaurants and bars that were on this tour in Venice were not of the same quality even though the price was more... At one of the restaurant stops my husband got a look at the kitchen on his way to the bathroom and refused to eat or drink anything there because it was so incredibly filthy!!! The guide was just ok.
