This tour is very informative and you see another side to Venice. I thinks its a must if you want to see another side to Venice and understand some of its history.
This was a small group, 8 people so no need for headsets. Tour guide was wonderful, took us away from crowds, back alleys to areas we would not normally go or see. If you don't like history, don't go. Wife and I both loved it.
We were very happy with this tour and we were especially delighted with our guide, she was very knowledgable and passed on some very interesting facts regarding Venice to us.
Fascinating tour. The guide was excellent and very helpful. Finishing at Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari with all it's art treasures was great way to end the tour. Thoroughly recommended.
A little overlap from previous day- not area or what we viewed but history. It really was execllent- would have preferred a little smaller group.
Definitely a great tour, walked tons so be sure to wear comfortable shoes, great knowledge from guide, very prepared and yet interesting
Excellent guide and learnt lots of interesting facts about the lesser known parts of Venice.
This was a great tour, very interesting and the guide was extremely knowledgeable. She described events and circumstances that were truly intriguing. This was probably the best tour I have ever taken. Thanks.
Enjoyed the tour. Perfect English and a lot of information about the real life in Venice.
Marina was really nice and helpful.
Fantastic. The tour guide (Francesco) was a local and was so knowledgeable, as well as terrifically approachable, pleasant, friendly and clearly PASSIONATE about his home city. He dealt with a huge variety of different abilities well on the walking tour itself and was interesting and engaged with everyone, including the numerous interruptions we all made by asking impromptu questions. I'd highly recommend this tour. It was money well spent. The only thing I'd add is some guidelines from Francesco about how to find nice places to eat in Venice (I wish I'd asked) because we just got royally ripped off and ate awful food everyone we went!
Nice sized group, good headsets, interesting subject matter, lovely and humourous guide - perfect. And the evening timeslot is a great time to do a walking tour out of the summer heat!!! Me and my party loved it.
If you want to see local Venice, away from the touristy mobs, then this is the tour to take. My boyfriend and I had been to Venice several times before this tour, and we still learned a lot of interesting information that most other tours miss. The tour guide was a local Venetian who even showed us where she lived so that we could understand local life in Venice.
Was awesome, saw Venice in another way, with interesting facts. A must do tour to understand Venice and see other areas not seen by the masses. Thank you!!!
Our guide was amusing and knowledgeable. We highly recommend this tour as an alternative to the usual tourist spots, as we experienced the rich history and culture of a living Venice.
Our guide was excellent, she taught us so much about Venice. We saw and learned so much more than we could have done alone. Our best day in Venice, thank you, Rachel and Sam Amendolia
Our guide was highly knowledgeable and gave a a good insight to the historical and modern-day Venice, taking us into the less-'touristy' areas. For the 2.5 hour tour, the cost was very reasonable, although dress appropriately as the tour can conclude in the Basilica S. Maria Gloriosa dei Frari (worth the extra entry fee).
This tour was absolutely fantastic. We had been to Venice before and had seen all the usual tourist things but this tour was a true "in depth" Venice experience. The wonderful guide was a native Venetian who was passionate about the history and heritage of the city. She was very knowledgeable on a broad range of subjects from the prisons of Republican Venice to the current measures being taken to preserve the city. She took us to parts of the city we would never have discovered on our own and pointed out many things that we would never have noticed otherwise. She wove historical elements into her commentary about the buildings, bridges, squares and canals we visited, making the whole experience most memorable. I would recommend this tour to anyone wishing to do more than just scratch the surface of this beautiful place.
Francesco was a very knowledgeable tour guide since he was born and brought up in Venice! The tour was a nice length and showed things that you might not see when exploring on your own.
We did five tours all together with Viator between Rome and Venice. We would highly recommend to family and friends! Thanks!!
small group guide, informative and entertaining guide. perfect if you have limited time and want to see real Venice outside of St. Marks Square! we returned to small squares we had seen and had wonderful lunch at half the price- trip paid for itself!
Would also recommend chicetto and wine tour. real Venice food and wine at amazing value prices-- make this your first trip and you can return again and again all your stay
Very enjoyable tour with a knowledgeable guide giving lots of background info. Very pleased we booked this.
