This tour included two of Venice's most notable and famous structures, the Basilica and Doge's Palace on the Piazza San Marco but started near the Rialto Bridge. Unfortunately for us, that was undergoing some renovation, we were told, and we didn't go by it. But we did go to a landing nearby on the Grand Canal and saw a lot that was so interesting if not well known in between there and the featured sites. The guide, Susan, said she had lived in Venice for something like 20 years and if there is something about it that she doesn't know, I'd be surprised. Appropriating the cliché, she bubbled over with enthusiasm, sharing so much on what makes Venice the special place that it is, making the tour especially enjoyable as well as informative.
Very knowledgeable tour guide. Friendly and patient. Basilica tour allowed us to skip the long lineups so that in itself was worth the tour!
Venice has always been 1 on my bucket list and this tour did not disappoint. Our guide, Mirco was fabulous. The fact that he is a native Venetian only made it that much better. His knowledge and the beauty of this city makes the tour a MUST DO.
Excellent, informative, and seeing the Basilica was a highlight!
My whole family went on this tour; two adults and two teenage children. We all enjoyed it. Our guide was articulate and extremely enthusiastic. We learned a lot and had a great time. Our guide even timed our visit to the viewing platform of the basilica in such a way that we could see the clock operate when the hour changed.
We would highly recommend this tour for all visitors.
I did review this tour with the English tour guide Kathleen believe that was her name. Please check your files.
Susan was a great tour guide!! She was so knowledgeable and passionate about Venice and the sites it made it more fun for everyone. She answered all of our questions and really brought the city to life. We really were so lucky to have had Susan and all her knowledge!!
We knew from others descriptions that Venice was unique. That we could visit personally and experience that uniqueness was enhanced by joining the best of Venice walking tour. We were treated to great insights by an excellent guide who set a high note for us on the first day of a 5 week European visit.
Excellent tour. Superb guide. Really informative and at a good pace for all the group. We saw interesting sites which we wouldn't have discovered wandering on our own.
Mirocolo was a wonderful person to she us his town! He was funny and informative! Though we ad been on a similar tour on a previous trip he helped us to understand what it was like to grow up and live inVence!
The tour was very well done. Guide was knowledgeable and provided excellent commentary.
Very interesting tour showing some of the smaller narrow streets and little squares of Venice, taking us past Marco Polo's family home. Susan our guide was excellent with a wealth of current and historical knowledge of Venice - having lived in the city for many years. The tour took a gentle pace which would suit older, less spritely people, but not too slow to put off younger, more able people. The information given in the Basilica was very interesting, as it was during the walking part of the tour. It was great to skip the line at the Basilica also. Definitely worth taking a tour, as you gain so much more than wandering around on your own. Thank you Susan
We had a wonderful tour with Susan the other day. She took us on many back streets where we had never explored. The Doges Palace was the highlight of the day. Would definitely recommend this tour.
The tour guide was great at explaining the history behind Venice and the sites. the tour is recommended
Great history and great places visited! Our tour guide was so friendly and funny and knew everything! I would do this one again!
Our tour of Venice street, St. Mark's Basilica and Doge's Palace was GREAT, thanks in part to our wonderful tour guide, Francesca. She was very knowledgeable and interesting. The headphones were a great way to hear everything, and her English was perfect.
Susan, our guide, was a lovely cheerful lady who explained the various layers of Venice so well. She is English and lived in Venice until recently. She knew all the hidden passageways and lovely quaint squares and churches. She made statements like 'this is a great bar/coffee shop. I used to come here before work etc' It made it all so real. And we did go back to the bar/coffee shop and felt like we were locals!! Venice just keeps unveiling itself the more you walk. Do walk in Venice. There is so much to discover. Susan recommended we go to the Jewish Ghetto the original Ghetto and it is well worth the visit.
Excellent!! We all loved it and intend to go back next year
The tour guide, 'Freddy', was wonderful. She was caring, and gave a continuous informative commentary. Would recommend this trip to anyone.
Expensive but worth it, our guide was great! It was nice to skip the lines too and we learned a lot.
