This was a great way to enjoy a gondola, far better than the "tourist" ride down dark canals seeing nothing.
I really enjoyed this experience, I was the only "student" in my boat so I had lots of opportunity to work on my skills. My instructor was very knowledgable and patient with me. We were able to go down some beautiful quiet canals and feel the peacefulness of them. If you are looking to do something a little different in Venice, I would highly reccomend this.
Highly enjoyable experience in the quietest and most peaceful part of Venice. The guide was really patient and so interesting .
fantastic experience great way to learn about traditional venetian culture, highly recommend
No one believed I was taking this class or even that there was a class like this. Jane and her staff are ladies that really have the concept, skill and patients to get even someone like myself that is not a good swimmer to love the class and respect rowing, gondola's even more. Thank you so much Jane! I will be back next time to do better I promise!
Excellent and interesting time. Learned about how the gondolas are steered and now have a greater appreciation for how they do it. My guide [I was lucky enough to be solo and had an excellent young woman as an instructor] explained the process to me, showed me, let me try it myself and answered my questions openly. Very good experience.
We purchased this activity for a fun and unique Venice experience. The ladies were very professional and were great with their instruction. A cool experience but could have been a little more fun than efficient. I'm glad we did it and totally recommend it!
Fun, experiential. We had ample opportunities to row. There were 4 of us including my husband and 2 sons (ages 11 and 17). We started at the dock with rowing then when we were in the lagoon we each had a chance to steer. I've had many inner ear infections so my balance is off. I was able to stand and row but didn't feel it was wise to stand at the back and steer. I was able to steer while standing in the boat -- though more difficult than if I were in the proper position because of a limited reach (and didn't fall in or tip anyone out) which for me was a success.
Our instructor was very professional and a good teacher. The only thing that would make it better would be a bit more of the history of gondolas.
Nice experience. It doesn't take as much effort and strength as I thought it would.
I had fun but I didn't really feel like the instructors did much. They gave us some basic instruction for the first 10 minutes and then just talked to each other while we took turns rowing the gondola. It would have been nice if they would have provided us with some history and other notes along the way.
