Read what other Viator.com travelers think about the Venice Shared Arrival Transfer: Marittima Cruise Port to Central Venice. What they loved, what they liked and what they think could be improved, it's all here to help you make the most of your next trip.
We departed our cruise ship at 8am with our luggage and easily found the transfer point. A quick trip through the canal and we were dropped off 200 meters from our hotel which was an easy find and no hassle. This transfer meant we didn't have to wait for the transfers arranged by the cruise ship and we could take our luggage with us and check in to our hotel and make the most of our day.
Very simple procedure to get to the boat and dropped us off in good time for us to explore the rest of Venice.
We were met ,at the pier and escorted to the boat immediately. No waiting what so ever. There were six passengers, total. We were the first to be dropped off, along with another couple. It made for an easy transfer.
This is the ONLY way to get to your hotel from Cruise Port, albeit a tad expensive (as is ALL water transportation in the lagoon). The crowds and waits for public transport at the terminal are unbelieveable when a cruise ship docks. For all intents and purposes this is door to door chauffeuring in a very nice launch and is quick plus it's a good way to see the Grand Canal without being on crowded public water transport (which I am not knocking, it's a good way to get around for $7E per person per direction) or a tour boat. Plus our ride sharers were a lot of fun to be with and we joined them later in the evening for drinks.
An extremely easy way to get from your cruise ship at arrival back in port to your hotel.
Viator gave the trip contract to Alilaguna the private water bus and water taxi company in Venice. The instructions on where to pick up the taxi did not agree with what we were hearing on the Ship. When we got to the location described in the email we received after booking there was the Alilaguna office and the attendant explained in perfect English that, even though we were 2 hours early to get the taxi, he would arrange for one to pick us up in 20 minutes. It arrived promptly. The Alilaguna taxi station is where everyone else boards the "people mover" to get to the public transportation. With Alilaguna we did not need it. The water taxi appeared when promised and took the two of us directly to our hotel dock on St Marks Square. I should note that Alilaguna has a waterbus dock at the same place that takes people to St Marks Square, the airport and possibly the railroad station for a lot less money.
Excellent service, representative was there right outside disembarking area. Only had to wait a short time for another couple. Very courteous and helpful with luggage.
A prompt and efficient service with friendly staff. Would recommend this service from Venice to anyone returning to the airport.
My wife and I were traveling with an older couple that had a lot of luggage. The Viator Representative met us and called a water Taxis that arrived in about 10 minutes, They handled all the luggage and took us right to our hotel. This was better then anything the cruise line could have provided.
I don't know of anywhere else in the world where you can take a water taxi right to your hotel...that is, if you are staying on a canal. A great welcome to a fascinating city!
Great Service, on time and very clean and private. Would do it again !!, Very friendly service.
Beat the queues for the water taxis. Easy transfer to St Mark's Square.
Was ok but treatment of luggage not so good. Transfer cost was nit cheap but picked up lots of passengers on the way
The taxi was great, just didnt know how long we would have to wait, but overall good
It was a smooth experience and we were dropped off just a few steps from our B and B next to a canal. Being a semi-private (one other couple on the water taxi) transport, it was rather expensive, but the taxi driver loaded and unloaded our bags for us, so that was very helpful.
When we arrived @ the port it took us almost an hour to find the right ticket window for Viator coupon.
We had to search for our transport. No one was waiting at the cruise terminal as expected. Once we had found the rep she was extremely helpful and journey was fine althougn we were dropped off at different pier and had to walk further with cases
It was a hassle to be on the line for a long time to exchange the voucher for tickets to board the water taxi. I can understand that there should be some control, but the current system isn’t going very smoothly. It seems that only one person knows who to handle the transaction and it took him a long time to complete each exchange.
