What You Can Expect
Meet your guide at the entrance to the Royal Gardens in Venice and stroll to Doge's Palace, the magnificent Venetian-Gothic building from where the leaders of the former Venetian Republic ruled until the late-18th century. Head inside and explore the grandiose public chambers that the doges lavished with fine art and ornamentation. Masterpieces by Renaissance champions Tintoretto and Veronese adorn the walls and ceilings, framing the palace’s grand staircases and arcade statues.
Learn about the extravagant doges as you walk around, and hear of the power and treachery that characterized their reign. Ruling the republic with iron fists, the doges established a network of prisons at the palace so they could keep a close eye on their foes. Wander across the Bridge of Sighs, built to connect the palace to the fearsome prisons, and pose for photos against the backdrop of the palace. Your walking tour then finishes outside the palace, leaving you to enjoy a 3-hour break before your next tour starts.
Skip the Line: Small-Group Venice Walking Tour with St Mark’s Basilica (2 hours):
Leave St Mark’s Square and set off on your walking tour to discover some of Venice’s highlights — its top attractions and lesser-known sights. Soak up the hustle and bustle of St Mark’s Square, and head inside St Mark’s Basilica to admire its interiors. Marvel at the marble floors and ogle the gilded mosaics that blanket the walls and ceilings. The Pala D’Oro canopy over the high altar dazzles with gold and your guide will explain the Byzantine influences that helped Venice hone its distinctive architectural style.
After 40 minutes approx inside the St Mark's Basilica, head out and set off to discover the canal walkways and pretty bridges that many visitors don’t get to see. Stop for photos by San Zaccaria Church and admire its incredible façade with Gothic and Renaissance carvings. As you walk, listen to your guide’s tales of the city during the days of the Venetian Republic and the many colorful characters that have called Venice home throughout the ages.
After two hours exploring the city, work your way back to the start point at St Mark’s Square and finish your tour by the Bridge of Sighs.

Although it seemed a little steep, the card was worth it as we got a great young guide and we skipped the line into the Doge's palace. A real must do. If time is important to you, then get the card.
This was an excellent introduction to Venice. Both guides were informative and gave just the right amount of detail without overwhelming us. The ear pieces make a hugely positive difference. Barbara was particularly entertaining in the morning.
Happy with the tour guide and the tour presentation.
A great day. Both tours interesting and tour leaders really knew their material. Highly recommended.
Very interesting. Andrea (Andrew) was very knowledgeable and shared so much on the Doges Palace tour. Laura was an excellent guide as we went through St. Mark's Basilica and the Venice walking tour.
This was a very good tour worth the money to get all of the history.
The Doge's Palace was very well done interesting and a worthwhile tour. The meeting point in the gardens is a piece of cake if you arrive by vaporetto. St Marks is magnificent especially if you love byzantine gold. the mosaics are breathtaking. We visited behind the alter and saw the Pala d' Oreo a panel of gold embedded with gems commissioned in 976. Our guide answered questions about the occupation of Venice and purpose of the mask.
I did the tour on Sept 10th. The tour meeting point was nearby and easy to find. Our guide for the Doge's Palace was Arianna. The tour was very informative and Arianna provided the right amount of info so it was easy to understand the history of the building, the palace and the art. It was good to get into the prison area. Great Art pieces.
In the afternoon I went on the 2nd part of the tour to St Marks Basilica. Our guide was Maria. The tour was very informative, whilst not over the top. Inside is amazing. A must see. The Skip the Line ticket is a must as the queues had 2-3 hour waits. Overall, a very good way to see 2 of the top attractions in Venice.
The tours were other wonderful .Skip the line is a must ! The time between was good to just enjoy the area of San Marco . Highly recommend this tour to see everyone the best of both worlds.
