No waiting in line even though the palace was crowded. Our guide spoke fluent English. The tour was all day which was relatively grueling but at the same time energizing. Probably the best guided tour I've ever been on and I've been on scores.
The full day tour was excellent, our guide Claire was amazing and very informative. The palace was quite busy but she led us through fairly easily making sure we got to the front in all rooms to admire them. We also got to see both the petite and grand trianons and a lot of the gardens. A fantastic day!
Our tour guide was Claire, she was amazing, guiding us through all the people, she was knowledgable, friendly and a joy to spend the day with.
This was an amazing tour and our favorite out of all the ones we took on our 6 week European adventure! The company providing the tour went way above and beyond the call of duty. We managed to get on the wrong train to Versailles and arrived well after our tour was to have started. We knew we had missed the guided tour but hoped, at least, that they would provide us with the tickets. We didn't expect anything else but got so much more :) They put us with Claire for our very own private guided tour! Claire was absolutely fantastic and spent the entire day with just the two of us. She was so pleasant and knowledgeable and we just loved her! She went at our pace and was able to answer every single question we had. By the end of the day it felt like we had known her forever. We saw and experienced the Palace of Versailles, the surrounding gardens, cottages and houses which are absolutely stunning and almost overwhelming in size. It should not be missed if you ever have the chance. She told us so much about Louis XIV and the history of how the palace and grounds evolved over time with each subsequent King Louis. Fascinating! No wonder there was a French Revolution, haha! The opulence contained there is beyond compare. Today it is a national treasure and rightly so!
We had a terrific guide. Take along some good shoes and pray for sunny skies (we dodged the rain for a while and then got a soaking). We all agreed that the full day, small group tour was the best way to go.
I booked for a full day tour in April with skip the line entry in a group of 10 or less. To my surprise no one else had booked for that day and I have a private guided tour of Versailles and the gardens! Guide was amazing!!!
Wow. Great tour. Our guide showed us through the grounds for a tour before joining more people for the Palace tour. Great info and advise for later. The whole place is incredible but the early setup made it so much better for our own explorations later. Walking is good but work out if the 'train' is worth the speed (not fast) and cost (not much once you have done the one way to the outer areas.
Very informative and organized. Tour guide, Elizabeth, was knowledgeable.
Great tour, although crowded at times by others. Could perhaps have included priority tickets on the train rude around the grounds although we walked it. Guide Isabelle, was very good..
We enjoyed the tour very much and the guide was terrific. You call this a full day tour, but it is really only a half day tour, as we are on our own the other half. This was fine with us, the name of the tour is somewhat misleading.
The line here was huge, definitely get skip the line tickets because they also give you access to Marie Antoinette's house which you don't visit on the guided section of the tour and many people didn't realise they needed the second ticket to get to that section. The estate is so big it is very handy to have a guide who can show you the main sections of the garden and palace before giving you tips on how to spend your free afternoon.
How do you describe the indescribable? Versailles is one of the most breathtaking experiences in the world. Our wonderful guide, Anais, made sure that it was more memorable with her fact-filled stories of France and the reigns of Kings Louis XIV, XV and XVI. All I can say is, "Wow."
