What You Can Expect
After redeeming your voucher at the entrance of the Gardens of Versailles, head off to explore this must-see Versailles attraction independently and immerse yourself in France’s rich history. Located just west of the fantastic Palace of Versailles, the Gardens of Versailles cover 1,977 acres (800 hectares) of land, landscaped beautifully across 13 different groves. Take your time and explore the garden’s groves, where the flowers, labyrinths, sculptures and fountains will delight your senses.
Originally designed by the famous 17th-century French landscape architect, André Le Nôtre, the Gardens of Versailles have remained quintessentially French in style. Since his original creation, thousands more trees, flowers and shrubs have been planted amid ornate statues and, of course, the incredible Versailles fountains.
Your independent Gardens of Versailles ticket includes a Versailles musical fountain show (Grandes Eaux Musicales), which takes place in the morning (11am-12pm) and afternoon (3:30pm-5pm) on Saturdays, Sundays and selected Tuesdays throughout the summer. During the show, a multitude of jets spray water up to 27 feet (8 meters) in the air in sequence with the Baroque music of Jean-Baptiste Lully, a French composer who served the court of Louis XIV. The display finishes at the Bassin de Neptune, often considered the palace’s finest fountain.
Please note: On Saturdays from June 21 - September 13, the gardens will close at 6pm (last entry at 5:20pm)
Really lovely day!
The tickets allowed us to bypass the line and wander the gardens. We spent a lovely hot afternoon exploring . Probably would have been better if we had some guide to explain the various statues and gardens.
The gardens and fountains at Versailles were fabulous! The palace was amazing!
It's absolutely beautiful, well worth time and ticket price--the favorite part of Versailles for our 2 children (12 and 14). Waited 2 hrs on Easter to see interior and it was dangerously crowded. Impossible to really see rooms so in a do-over I'd skip interior and focus on fountains and out buildings
Excellent tour and guide was fabulous! Time was given to rest at lunch and enjoy the afternoon as the French do!
LOVED THE GARDENS!!! Definitely a must do! Lots of walking so wear comfortable shoes. Worth every penny for this ticket!
The Garden Fountain Show was outstanding. We really enjoyed it. Picking up the tickets with the voucher went without a problem. I would recommend anyone use the Viator option.
Skip-the-queue comes in handy. The show is lovely and the atmosphere is great.
This was one of the highlights of my trip to Paris with my children. The bikes were well maintained, easy to ride, included a basket and picking them up from the station was easy. Our tour guide Beth was wonderful and was with us for the complete journey. She had a lovely accent, was engaging and made history fun! The stop at the market was enjoyable and made lunch that much more delicious. Beth lead us to the backwoods and gardens enjoying the bucolic countryside and her favorite "bit", the hamlet. It was a welcome reprieve from the crowds at the palace and the picnic at the end of the grand canal was picture perfect. I did experience a glitch. We paid a surcharge for the fountains online when we booked the bike tour because it was required to get in. However the ticket confirmation I printed for the fountains were not redeemable at the gate we were trying to enter. They wanted our entire group to trek back around to the front and wait in long lines so I ended up purchasing tickets twice. To make matters worse, the main fountain was under construction and has been for over a year and we only saw the musical fountain. I felt cheated but shrugged it off to enjoy a beautiful afternoon and I do highly recommend this tour outfit and activity. Just make sure to inquire about the fountains (they are not everyday) and get your fountain ticket at the gate!
This ticket was something of a bust with one of the main fountains under renovation. Okay, but not great.
