What You Can Expect

Salzburg Small-Group Day Trip from Vienna with Luxury Transport

Make yourself comfortable aboard a spacious Mercedes Sprinter Deluxe

Take a taxi from your hotel to the central meeting point in Vienna to meet your driver. Keep your receipt; the fare is reimbursed after your tour! Make yourself comfortable aboard a spacious Mercedes Sprinter Deluxe van that features extra leg room, adjustable seats and Wi-Fi, plus iPads to read information about the tour and any sights. This luxury mode of transport allows you to travel faster than by coach, freeing up more time to visit each of the places on your itinerary.

Admire the breathtaking scenery on the 5-hour journey to Salzburg. Pass Vienna Woods, marvel at Melk Abbey and see the peaks of the Austrian Alps from afar. Stop at a typical Austrian coffee house to fuel up with coffee and strudel (own expense).

Continue traveling through Austria’s renowned lake region, Salzkammergut. This area is home to countless Alpine lakes and quaint villages, one of which served as the summer home for the Habsburg family, who ruled Austria — and much of Europe — for more than 600 years. Stop for photos at the places where larger coach tours just drive by, including Lake Attersee, and hop off to stroll through St Gilgen. The gorgeous Alpine village featured in The Sound of Music.

After arriving in Salzburg, meet your local guide for a walking tour of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old Town, and enjoy commentary about the city’s past and present. Visit Mozart's Birthplace, Salzburg Cathedral, the cemetery of St Peter’s Abbey, Archbishop’s Palace and the colorful gardens of Mirabell Palace, where The Sound of Music’s 'Do Re Mi' scene was filmed.

When the need for food hits, ask your guide to recommend a local restaurant and enjoy a traditional Austrian lunch (own expense). Spend the remainder of the afternoon exploring at your leisure.

At the prearranged time, meet your driver and relax on the 3-hour journey back to central Vienna (or select hotels in Vienna). Alternatively, if you plan to stay in Salzburg rather than returning to Vienna, simply ask your guide to drop you off at your Salzburg accommodation instead.

We had a fantastic day out! The transport was nice and spacious with plenty of leg room - we had an ipad and a pair of bose headsets on each seat and there's nothing better than a scenic journey with some great music you can choose yourself! : Peter and Naomi were fab guides and a lot of fun too. The tour itself was very informative and we drove through some amazing landscape, especially Salzkammergut, the lake district. Honestly I can't recommend this tour enough!

We were unsure about this tour since it looks new and has no reviews. We were setup with an A tour guide Ben from one of the big, local companies. He was so nice and knowledgeable, on time in the Mercedes van, and gave us tons of good info along the way without being overly talkative! Then we met up with Naomi in Salzburg, who was eager to show us the city! When we got to St. Gilgen and the lake, we jumped on an electric boat rental for about 20 minutes we didn't have much time there, but could go back for a week for the views alone!, which was maybe the best 20 minutes of our lives! When we got to Salzburg, we took the lift to the top of the fortress and grabbed a pretzel and beer at the top for another priceless vista that I can't put into words! Overall so glad we did it and would highly recommend to anyone going to Vienna!
