Bus travels too fast and does not always allow a good vantage point of the site. Guide describes sites less in English than in German, I speak German too. Description of site is given far too early probably because we pass it so quickly. The Danube River tour did not show Vienna at its best and most of the time was spent waiting in the lock.

This is the only way to go. The bus includes headphones that explain important sites to visit as you go by. Very helpful. During busy season, bus comes every 30 minutes.

We did the full hop-on hop-off 24 hour tour, which encompassed three separate tours. Two of them were great as they were Vienna city based and there was plenty to see, but the one to the palace was a bit boring. We did the three tours one after the other and were completely 'bused out' by the end. I would suggest splitting the tours over two days if possible. Booking through Viator proved to be good value.

Good. A long time to wait between buses, especially in the winter. Very good to orientate yourselves with Vienna. Tickets are less expensive when you get there.
