A really good Tour, guide was fantastic especially as he was doing the commentary in Two Languages
Mayerling is known as the Austrian Romeo and Juliet. The Heiligenkreuz church is so beautiful that the pope visited it himself. The Seegrotte is a great underground boat ride and its significance to WWII was very interesting. The stop there for lunch included lots of varied foods and was a great change of pace from crowded streets and restaurants in Vienna.
This tour was amazing, the tour operators were so well organized and the full trip was well planned. The pick up from the hotel was on time, 45 minutes before tour starting time. Vienna woods was very beautiful, Mayerling was so quite with green lushy surroundings. To conclude a very cool boat ride.
It was a refreshing change to get out of the city and view some of the countryside around Vienna on this interesting, varied and good value tour. A drive through Baden and the southern part of the Woods was followed by three visits including Mayerling.
Great experience. The guide was great, the destinations were different and fun, overall well worth it.
This is a great tour, especially early in a visit to Vienna, because you will see so many beautiful places you'll want to return to! The countryside is unique and lovely, and all along the drive the tri-lingual guide pointed out both current and historical things of interest including activities and trips you might want to take later. Do bring a bottle of water and a snack and comfortable shoes, as especially the mine tour requires walking.
Took the tour with two of my daughters. Hans, our tour guide, spoke excellent English. He was very informative providing lots of interesting facts about the sites we visited as well as the country side we drove through. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our favorite part of the trip was the visit to Seegrotte.
Our tour guide was excellent and we were glad for half a day on a comfortable coach. We learned much about the history of Vienna and the walk and boat ride through the gypsum mine was very interesting - a charming and humourous tour guide there too. Very good value for money and highly recommend.
Good tour -- I really wanted to see Mayerling ..... but tour group stated to bring a lunch or snack --- I carried it around all of Dachau but there was not time to eat, and many signs said: No FOOD, nor drinks allowed.
I fkpt up with teh group, but felt badly for some who didn't plan on many steps donn to the lake --- there should have been a notice that much walking in all sites was expected.
Otherwise, a very enjouable tour. I woud recommend it to most. -- GS
Excellent Guide (George) who was very knowledgeable and friendly. Lovely views. Highly recommended.
Even though our voucher was checked by lady at hotel pick up, again by lady when disembarking at bus station to join tour and again by tour guide when getting on coach we had been directed to by 2nd lady, as coach was heading down expressway, we had an inkling we were on wrong tour. Guide had very heavily accented English so werent sure. however, what could he have done, no head count was undertaken so we enjoyed a tour to Melk and the Abbey. This was worth 5 stars. Make sure you are on right coach!
Lovely countryside.... Got a glimpse of a real fairy tale castle and the gypsum mine with the underground lake was fascinating..... And a very welcome break from the heat outside
This was a fantastic tour. Guide was wonderful...L Baker Perth Western Australia
Much better than expected! Tour guide (27/6) was v good, full of information and spoke excellent English. Enjoyed scenery. We were happy to hear about the many composers inspired by Vienna Woods. Seegrotte v enjoyable.
Loved this tour. The Mayerling hunting lodge was a nice stop - quite interesting. Driving through Vienna Woods and the Roman city of Baden was also delight. But, for me, the best part was the small boat cruise on the Seegrotte, the largest underground lake in Europe.
Short coach trip to end our 5 day independent trip to Vienna. This was a nice contrast to our city based trip and was very well organised and covered 3 different and interesting stops. The trip on the underground lake is actually inside a former gypsum mine which is very interesting. (The access to the mine is by walking along a perfectly reasonable sized tunnel and then opens out to large caverns.)
