This is a fun trip, even in the rain! We were fortunate to have the owner of the tour company as our guide. He is a delightful young man who was a fantastic guide. He's very informed about the wines of the area as well as the geology and climate that contribute to the complexity of the wines. This is a bike trip much like the locals might undertake on weekend to the Wachau Valley. It's not a marathon bike ride by any means, nor is it intended to be. The bike trail from Krems runs alongside the main road and there are many local wineries that can be accessed from this trail. We happened to run into quite a bit of rain and rain ponchos were provided. The other two members in our tour were game as were we and none of us minded getting a bit wet! It was all part of the experience. The lunch on the tour was amazing. All of us commented on how delicious the steaks and sausages were! Our tour guide also introduced us to a drink peculiar to Austria and the Wachau Valley called Sturm! If you have a chance to try it, you should. It's only available during the crush and as billed, Austrians love this stuff. After our tour, we'd mention to waiters in restaurants that we'd been to the Wachau Valley and tried Sturm! Their eyes would light up and the normal Austrian reserve would melt away. We would do this tour again in a heart beat! Thank you for a great time!
If you have time it is a MUST DO. It was so refreshing cycling through the countryside through the orchards. The homemade lunch with the local wine topped it and ofcourse the guide was full of details about the place and knew how and what to show. He made the trip all the more interesting.
This tour was one of the highlights of our trip. Fun, relaxing and the sights were amazing! A great way to spend the day away from the busyness of the city.
Great tour, great guide, great wine and enthusiastic company. Bikes a bit 'clunky' and heavy but the terrain is mostly quite flat, so not a real problem.
The guide was great and the tour itself very interesting. The wineries we visited had great wine and the lunch was very good. Thanks for a great trip.
My husband and I had a great time on this tour. Our guide was fun and shared some really good history about both Vienna and the vineyards we toured. We were a small group which made it nice to learn about others in the group and where their travels were taking them too. I would highly recommend this tour. Do not plan anything else for your day. It is an all day event from getting to train station, the tour and getting back. If you have something planned for the evening you will feel rushed so don't.
We are in our 70's and loved this tour. Lots of young people in their 20's but we kept up with an electric bike. My suggestion to anyone over 50. Loved it. The bike baths were amazing and we toured the most beautiful small towns and had time to visit. The vineyards were beautiful, everything so very nice. It was the high light of my visit. A very must do if you travel. This is very unique and wonderful. Tour guides were so accommodating, always looking after every person. This is a five star event. Do it.
Do it. Before booking the trip I had a hard time wrapping my head around why we needed 9 hours for this tour. My recommendation is to just trust the schedule. Time will melt away as you enjoy the biking and wine. Also James, our tour guide was great.
This was wonderful. Fun to ride through the towns and the by the river. Lunch was great and all the wine tastings too. I would have liked to have more time in Durnstein. We had about an hour, 2 hours would have been much better. We could have gone back after our last wine tasting as we have a lot of time in the park before heading to the train station. Our guide was very accommodating too.
An absolute must do whilst in Vienna. Our group was 14 all Aussies - with my husband and I were quite a bit older than the young ones backpacking Europe but James our guide was exceptional and made the tour so enjoyable for us all and by midway we were all one big happy family, laughing and frolicking to the end. Ride was easy paced and not difficult, Views were spectacular and Lunch and the wines were great also. A personal thank you to James for going out of his way to show us to a supermarket after the tour had ended.
Absolutely fantastic! One of the highlights of our 3 weeks in Europe. James our guide was excellent. The tour itself was perfectly timed. We learned a lot, really enjoyed the wine, the scenery and the bikes were very good. An absolute must if you are in Vienna
Our favorite day. Guides Giovanni and Marta were fantastic fun, warm and welcoming. Saw beautiful countryside even in the rain!!! and met some really nice folks. Would do it again for sure upon our return to this gorgeous country. Thanks for great memories!!!
This was an amazing tour!! The scenery was beautifuly and the weather was perfect for us. Going through the countryside, I had to pinch myself. Our tour guide was great and so was our lunch. Wine tasting was a bonus. Definitely got a workout in the most beautiful countryside in Wachau well worth it.
One of the best tour of my life, the guide, the food, the journey, the experience I can not ask for more.
We had a wonderful time on this excursion. Our guide Marla was great. She was up-beat and knew a lot about the history of the region and the wines that we were tasting. The scenery was fantastic. Lunch at the Janek winery was great as well. We only wished that the day would not go by so fast.
This tour was the highlight of our time in Vienna and one of the best days of our two weeks in Europe. Well organized, easy, fun, and beautiful scenery! If you're looking to get out of the city for a day, I highly recommend this tour. I cannot say enough great things about this.
Be sure to ask for Gino. Best guide ever. We stopped at so many beautiful sites to take photos and take in the culture. Viator scored a home run with this tour!
The reviews are what convinced me to book this tour, and they were so right! The biking was fairly easy only a few short, minor hills the food was delicious the wine was tasty and the scenery was awesome! I hadn't been biking in years, so it was nice to do it again, and it was even better that it was along the Danube. Dürnstein was also a very cute town with lots of apricot treats Chocolate-covered apricots! Yum!. We hiked up to the prison where they kept King Richard the Lionheart. It was a hard hike straight up, but well worth the view when you got to the top!! I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to get out of the city for a day, experience beautiful parts of the countryside, and meet great people! Our tour guide was James, and he was fabulous. He's very knowledgeable and a lot of fun!
Wonderful tour. Great combo of rest and riding. More than just wine tasting. Lunch was most excellent and prepared by our tour guide and one of the wineries. The tour begins and ends with an hour train ride outside the city, but beautiful countryside views. Our tour guide was very knowledgable.
Great tour. James the guide was excellent and we had a great day out in the Valley. Can't fault it.
The scenery was amazing, the food and wine were delicious, and the guide and customers were inviting and fun! This was my favorite day of my vacation and I would do this tour again in a heartbeat!
Our guide was James, a very engaging chap from America. Although we arrived to the tour late, we managed to get there in time and the guided were very helpful in assisting us. The bike ride was amazing - we cycled through beautiful medieval towns and vineyards. The veggie food was very nice.
