This tour was well worth the price and a great first day in Austria! Our guide, Vera, was amazing and provided us several suggestions on things to do during our time in Vienna and also suggestions to make the most of Oktoberfest later in our journey. We got to taste several amazing wines, schnapps, and have a hardy lunch for about 10 Euro extra. The biking pace was relaxed and not too hilly, we had ample opportunity for photos, and the distance between drinks was not far.
The bike tour was absolutely amazing with breathtaking views of the Wachau Valley, wonderful company, and amazing wine. Vera was extremely knowledgable regarding the wine and area, and even gave great recommendations for food, drinks, and sites in the area. Overall, I would recommend to anyone traveling to Vienna and looking for an activity during the day.
Beautiful scenery, great white wines, and a knowledgable guide. You take an hour long train ride to get to Krems then start biking. Bike ride is not too strenuous as it is broken up by stops to take pictures, try wine and eat lunch.
Stunning scenery and gorgeous wines. The tour guides were really friendly and helpful - as a solo traveller I really enjoyed meeting everyone and getting to know them throughout the day. I highly recommend!
This was one of the highlights of our trip to Vienna, and our favorite tour. Our two guides, Jose and Karin, were very knowledgeable and experienced not to mention patient. They took the time to get to know the group, and were very good at handling a large about 15 amount of cyclists. This tour offers the greatest sights you can get from the Wachau region, not to mention the wine tasting three stops, 3 glasses on each were quite good! The ride is about 18 km, but the terrain is plain and the pace is comfortable. If you do one thing at the outskirts of Vienna, this should be it.
We were fortunate enough to be in a very small group for our tour 4 people. That was ideal. The countryside was beautiful in spite of the drizzling weather. I highly recommend this tour, but consider going on less popular days to get a better experience. I'm not sure how different things are with a large group of 15.
This was a great trip! It was well run and really fun. Jose was a great guide really knowledgeable and friendly. We did this as a corporate team building event after a week long trade show. Great way to get some exercise, see some beautiful Austrian countryside and learn about the regional wine. Recommend!
Such an amazing tour!!! We had a great time and our guides, Ian and Jose were so patient and knowledgable. There are so many beautiful things to see on this tour that you could not see from a bus or walking tour. At the restaurant, I recommend the goulash or the turkey salad. Make sure to take a swim suit to take a dip in the Danuabe at the middle of the tour.
We loved the tour! It was a beautiful ride and the tour guide was terrific!
My husband and I took this wine tasting bike tour through the Wachau Valley in the beginning of August and loved every minute of it. The main guide was Vera and Jose was her assistant for the day. We initially were thinking of just renting bikes ourselves and finding our way around but I am glad that we took the organized tour. Vera and Jose were both very organized, knowledgeable and fun to be with. We met the other riders at their office in Vienna and then took a train ride out to the Wachau Valley. They had a large group of about 20 and were able to get everyone fitted on their bikes in no time. Then we had a safety demonstration and we were off to visit the wineries. We had a great day riding through the valley. It is an easy ride. We stopped at a Durnstein Castle and Jose gave us a brief history of this very famous place. The views were amazing! I think this was one of the best day trips that we have taken in Europe. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone that wants to get a little exercise while seeing one of the most beautiful places in Europe.
We had a wonderful day. I highly recommend it as a way to see the countryside and taste wine. The biking was easy, and I never worried about cars. Our guide was excellent.
EXCELLENT tour!!! One of the highlights of our stay in Austria. The guide was easy-going and knowledgeable, the bikes were well-maintained and easy to ride, the wine/vineyards were beautiful, and the scenery was drop-dead gorgeous. It was like riding through a fairy tale, complete with a ruined castle at the top of a mountain. Vienna was great, but the day we spent on this tour was by far our favorite. Highly recommended.
A great tour to see a beautiful part of the world. Great wine sampled while viewing some lovely villages on a pleasant bike ride. The tour went off without a hitch and was well organized. Would highly recommend it for anyone that enjoys a nice ride through the wine country of the Wachau Valley.
My husband and I agreed it was one of the highlights of our trek thru Eastern Europe! Wish we would have had more time so we could stop off in some of the cute villages we passed thru but we were a big group! The scenery was like something out of a movie set or a fairy tale. The Wachau Valley Is absolutely stunning! Would highly recommend this tour!
Well organized, beautiful scenery, and great fun. Our guide Ian was excellent.
My daughter and I really enjoyed our bike tour. Scenery was beautiful, tour guide was knowledgeable and we had fun with our group!
This tour is great - do it! It was one of the highlights of my 2 weeks in Europe. I spent a lot of time in European cities and this was a great way to get out of the city and explore some beautiful countryside. A 9-hour tour sounds very long, but you won't be biking for 9 hours. It's not too intense in terms of the biking you bike in fairly short increments, and it's mostly flat and it's not very intense or snobby in terms of the wine tasting. FYI, the Wachau Valley is mostly dry white wines, but some people on our tour weren't really into wine and they still enjoyed biking and wandering the small towns we visited including Durnstein, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our guide Ian was from New Zealand it's nice to have a native English speaker you can ask questions but has lived in Austria a few months and taught us a lot about authentic Austrian wine culture and heurigens. We also had a fun, social group of people. Bikes are in good condition and helmets are provided/required. You're mostly on bike paths so it's not dangerous city riding you ride a train outside of Vienna before getting on a bike.
Amazing trip! Our guide Karin was excellent, we had a perfect size group of 6 wonderful people.
The Wineries are amazing and the wines we tasted were delicious.
Definitely recommend it!
It was just fabulous! After the busyness of the city, it was so lovely to bicycle around the country side where there is so much history and beauty! Our guide was friendly and courteous. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the region and the wines and you could feel that he truly love Austria. He made everyone feel at ease and we all had a wonderful time....no matter where you were from. I love Austrian wines too...very fresh and crisp! Go for it!
Awesome tour, would highly reccomend it to anyone who wants to see some more of Austria, and learn a bunch about wine. The pace is nice and easy, the vineyards are beautiful and the wine is delicious. Our guide, Ian, was great - it was an really enjoyable day.
Excellent. We went in May 2015. Colder, kinda dreary day. Biking along the danube and in the wachau valley was surreal. Knowledgeable tour guide. made it very fun for us. This should be a priority if you visit vienna
Our guide Vera was superb! A great mix of professional and fun. We visited three wineries and even had time for ice cream. Highly recommend this tour- but be ready to spend the entire day.
