We called the afternoon before to confirm and we were told we were all set and would be picked up in front of our hotel. The customer service rep never told us where, exactly. Early the next morning, we were waiting in the hotel lobby right by the glass doors for our shuttle to pick us up and as we stood there, we watched it fly by as our concierge tried diligently to flag it down. The concierge called the company for us, and we were told that if we still wanted to join the tour, we would have to take a taxi. 25 later for a 10 minute cab ride, we were at the train station. The bus driver said he was already running late and couldn't stop for us. We were in the lobby 10 minutes early and there were 7 people total on our trip and we were a group of 4, so that is kind of hard to believe. The tour guide was nice but hard to understand. Getting off on the wrong foot first thing pretty much sours your whole mood.

A lot of new things off limits despite the advertised itinerary.

Not enough time at each site. One could probably do better scoping out the sites on their own. Additionally, you're playing Russian roulette with the guide. Some of the bus guides are knowledgeable and nice - the one we initially got stuck with was not. At least the company offered us the opportunity to take the tour on another day with a different driver. While my group had this flexibility others may not have been so lucky. This is an all day tour, but at the end of the day, you don't feel as if you've seen much or accomplished much. Yet, you are beat from hustling from one point to another. The most significant leg of the tour is the Fords Theatre Peterson House not enough time spent and the Capital Building adequate time as well as an internal tour guide which maximized the impact of the visit.
