This trip was great. I didn't realize how much there was to see and do in Gettysburg. Our driver was awesome and so was the tour guide who rode on our bus with us through the battlefield. I highly recommend this day tour.
Simply superb from start to finish. the trip was interesting and informative
A great day out and history lesson. The guides gave their all and made the day so special. Very emotional viewing the battlefield and monuments. It was a long day and the Gettysburg film was showing on bus outbound and inbound. The volume was way too loud as I felt a little quiet and reflection would have been more appropriate coming back to Washington.
This trip was set up for my husband who is a history buff. AT first he wasn't sure it was what he really wanted, getting divided up and assigned a "play gun" etc. But he ended up enjoying the trip very much. We both enjoyed the cyclorama. He really enjoyed the battlefield visit and the guide we had. His only wish is that he could have spent more time at the battlefield. Both the bus driver and guide were very good.
From start to finish the tour was very well organised and a must do when in the area. There was more included in the tour than I expected so great value for a full day tour. Visited every key area of the battle and tour guides were excellent.
I had a magnificent day on my trip to Gettysburg. On the way over there and back we were presented with the movie Gettysburg, which was a real treat.
When we arrived there we first went to the Farnsworth house, which is magnificently preserved with bullet holes and all from the civil war. The local guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining being dressed in period uniform and a muscat.
At the visitor's center we got to watch a great presentation of the three days of the battle, first with a documentary narrated by Morgan Freeman, and then a greatly representation of the battle using a huge painting reproduced to present the various stages of the battle illuminated by lights behind it.
But the best was when we actually went to the battlefield, being guided by an extremely knowledgeable guide that was entertaining and made everything seem so alive.
This day trip is very highly recommended to anyone interested in the civil war.
This was a long day but definately worth the effort. The guides that looked after us after we arrived at the battlefield made the history come to life. Highly recommend this to any history buffs
This was a terrific tour. It was interesting, and the guides in Gettysburg were very informative. The bus driver, David Cooper, is a safe driver and kept us on schedule, so our day at Gettysburg was as full as possible.
This was a excellent tour ,we had a very good guide who took us through all the details of the battle and the outcomes. The museum also was a highlight.
Excellent tour. Get there early if you have more than one companion. The two-hour bus seating is first come, first service. The city guide was excellent in giving ideas about how civil war soldiers' lives were during the Civil War/Gettysburg time. The National Park guide (Mr. Woody Christ) was even more outstanding and knowledgable. It was humbling to be walking the hallowed ground where the US (and possibly the world) could have changed in 1863, while listening to step-by-step historical account of the battle. If I return, I might come back to Gettysburg and hire him for a more private tour. However, this was outstanding already. The return time will be around 6:30 pm, not 6 pm as noted. This is a full day activity. Well worth the money and time.
We took our 9 year old granddaughter with us and all three of us enjoyed the day immensely. The introductory tour with the "soldiers" was both fun and informative. The tour guide at the battlefield was extremely knowledgeable and provided the information at a great pace so that we could appreciate the full story. This trip was well worth the money and we would highly recommend it to anyone interested in Civil War history.
Enjoyed the tour very much. Bus driver was great, tour guides at Gettysburg great as well. Overall a wonderful day! Would recommend tour to friends traveling to DC area.
