The trip was very interesting. Our specialist guide at Gettysburg was very knowledgeable.
Out lady driver was excellent and she had a great personality.
We enjoyed the tour immensely. As Australians visiting the site of the battle of Gettysburg was a very moving experience and one I would highly recommend to anyone thinking of taking this tour.
My wife and I loved this tour. It was exciting and sad at the same time to be in the Gettysburg battlefield where thousands of people of the same country killed when fighting for their principles. It was a turning point in the American History and from this day it shaped the core values of our country.
We highly recommend this tour.....well organized, excellent, entertaining, informative driver as well as speaker guides. The information given and all the areas covered really brings history alive.
Myself and my family really enjoyed it. I didn't know much about the Civil War, but felt I learnt quite a bit from the tour. My personal favourite was our visits to the Shriver house, so interesting!
Very complete. Knowledgeable guides. Liked mix of town and site visits. Also, the bus took us to a shopping center food court so everyone could choose what they wanted and in their price range.
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Gettysburg. Our driver was friendly and well, informed, the museum was awesome, and we had quite a bit of time to just look around the battlefield.
Very much enjoyed it. The guides were very helpful and knowledgeable.
We had a fabulous trip to Gettysburg! The adults and students agreed that it was one of the best tours of their Washington DC experience. The guides were very knowledgeable and passionate about the history and era. Although the trip back had an unexpected detour, we were able to travel through parts of DC we never would have experienced. What a blessing!
Brilliant tour loved every minute of it Highly recommend it. had a tour guide join us for the tour of the battlefield and boy was he good. Couldn't fault it. If you only do one tour do this one.
Me and my brother, both in our early 20s, did this trip while staying in Washington D.C. for a week, and we would definitely recommend it for any interested young travelers who can't drive themselves. It was really easy, our bus driver was great and it's really good value for money. We both agreed it was probably our favorite day of the whole week!
The only problem was that we could have spent even longer there, especially in the new visitor centre. So if you live nearby we came from the UK you may wish to drive yourselves and spend a very long day or two.
This trip was great, wish it could have been longer. The tour at the Shriver house tells you about what happened in Gettysburg when the soldiers left, a part of the history that no one really talks about. The guide at Gettysburg was exceptional and the museum is amazing. You could spend hours there. We enjoyed it very much.
This definitely a tour not to be missed. From the booking office where the staff were very pleasant and helpful to our tour driver who was David the Bear Cooper , he is an asset to the company . David welcomed everyone on to he bus and introduced himself. Throughout the tour we were given lots of information, then the Gettysburg film was shown to get us all in the frame of mind to what was going to be an amazing day as we made our way towards the town of Gettysburg. Once we arrived in Gettysburg David informed us of the history attached to the area as we were driving towards the Shriver house were we had our first stop. After touring around this house/ museum, we got back on to the bus and drove to the visitors centre where David gave us information and data about the centre and the orientation film which we would see. David went, obtained and gave us our tickets for the show. When we left the visitors centre and boarded the bus we were introduced to Dave who is an official tour guide for the Battlefields. The whole tour was brought to life by these two guides, both David. I would definitely recommend this tour. We thoroughly enjoyed our day.
Even though there's so much to do and so little time. This tour did a great job in making sure I saw everything I wanted to see.
It was wonderful! There was 6 of us in our group and we all greatly enjoyed the entire experience. bus driver was very knowledgeable, and so was the tour guide.
This was a fantastic tour. The guide was knowledgeable and the Shriver house was amazing. It truly brought this American part of history to life.
It was an absolutely wonderful day. We had a great driver and very informative and wonderful tour guide. It was the best part of our vacation.
We loved exploring Gettysburg. Having someone else do the driving and navigating really took the pressure off and allowed us to just enjoy our experience. The Gettysburg Visitor Center was excellent - I would have liked to have had more time to explore there. The battlefield tour was incredibly humbling it was incredible to see the sites I'd read about in history class as a kid.
A couple of tips:
-If you're sick of eating cafeteria and gift shop food like everywhere else on your vacation, bring some snacks. It's a long day and you'll probably get munchy at some point and all you'll be able to find are M and Ms and peanuts.
-Plan for all sorts of weather. When it rains, it can really rain.
-Watch the 1993 Gettysburg film or read Michael Shaara's Killer Angels before you go. I was really glad I did because I had forgotten so much since my history class days. It isn't necessary to have a good time, but I enjoyed it even more than my family did because I was familiar with names and details that they weren't. It also allowed me to get even more out of our tour guide because I could ask him questions along the way instead of his usual and good! canned speech.
Long day but well worth it. Smooth travel, great information, enjoyable guide.
Again, another great tour experience. Our bus driver and Tour guide was great. The Shriver house was an unexpected surprise. Would have liked to seen a bit more the actual Battlefield.
The whole day was a great experience.
From the driver, through the tour of the town house, the presentation and diorama in the Visitors Centre and finally the battleground tour with the guide brought the event to life.
One of our most interesting experiences of our US holiday.
The was exceptional and fabulous. My family enjoyed every minute. We wished it could have lasted longer. We highly recommend it. We enjoyed watching the Gettysburg movie on the trip there and back.
