Beautiful trip down the Potomac...very laid back. Lots of history my husband and I had never heard before and beautiful grounds to walk around leisurely.
Our tour In the Footsteps of George Washington was very enjoyable. The cruise was comfortable and relaxing. The estate is beautiful and our experience was quite moving. I would definitely recommend this tour!
The boat ride from Pier 4 in DC to Mount Vernon provided memorable views of heavily wooded, beautiful Virginia. A host of docents enlightened our group of 22 about the history of and daily living realities at Washington's lovely home. Perhaps the highlight might well have been our visit to the Washington Education Center that houses what we believed the best "museum" that we experienced on our 6 day holiday in the nation's capital. It traces the life of Washington from his boyhood with photos, films, artifacts, quotes and tableaus. All in all, we highly recommend Mount Vernon via Viator.
This was my favorite tour on our recent vacation to DC!! There's so much history here at Mt. Vernon. The property is in excellent condition, the tour of Washingtons house was great, many original pieces still in the home and on the property. You can even sit on a rocking chair on the front porch and enjoy the beautiful view of the Potomic River! There's a museum on site with more original pieces and history on the Washingtons. Don't miss this wonderful historic place...a "must" see!!!
It was great to walk in the footsteps our our great president. I was again amazed at how intelligent he was and how ordered his life was. It was made even more amazing because he was self taught. The cruise was VERY well done and narrated.
A quality trip. Lots to do and see. The boat trip was a great way to relax and see many of the Washington sights.
The only thing I would suggest is to stay a little longer at Mount Vernon. The time allotted for the tour and trying to get through the museum and grounds is not near enough time.
I really liked this tour. It was a very nice, quiet cruise down the Potomac. Mount Vernon is beautiful and very will kept. The out buildings give you a real appreciation of the work demanded by a large plantation in the late 18th century. There are nice gift shops and an eatery for your family. I highly recommend this tour.
Very enjoyable and relaxing tour. Mount Vernon is a lovely area to visit and the house restoration has been carried out beautifully.
This is a very relaxing way to see Mt.Vernon if you are staying in DC. No need to deal with the traffic. Cruise was very relaxing and the narration down the Potomac points out all the sights along the way. The 3 hours at Mt. Vernon is an adequate amount of time to spend at the site. Highly recommend.
