It was a wonderful way to see Mt. Vernon, when we had NOT rented a car for our stay. It was easy to get to the dock area using the Metro. The sights down the Potomac River were interesting and the guide did a great job of telling us interesting facts about what we were seeing. I highly recommend this tour to families staying in DC who have not rented transportation, but are relying on the Metro as a way to see sights.
Great Trip!! Would recommend to anyone. Had 2 teenagers with us and they LOVED it!
In spite of the rain it was an incredibly wonderful experience! Had been there over 15 yrs. ago, but did not visit the 16-sided barn at that time. The stroll through the woods to the barn is wonderful and the barn itself was impressive to see. The cruise went off without a hitch highly recommended!
Cruising the Potomac River made our Mt. Vernon trip very special. Many interesting sights and bits of history were pointed out along the way. Mt. Vernon is a must-see! We need to go back to spend more time in the interactive education center. The movies were great. The tour of the house was excellent and managed quite well with all of the many visitors.
We had an excellent time at Mount Vernon and the boat ride was great also.
We had a great time on this tour. It was a great way to see Mt. Vernon. The boat trip was very scenic and you were handed a timed ticket to tour the house as soon as you exited the boat. The time on the ticket allowed you to tour the house first and then have plenty of time to tour the grounds and the museum. I have been to Mt. Vernon several times in the past and this is the best way to see it. It is a great value also, since you get the boat ride and the tour. I'm so glad that we decided to include this in our Washington DC itinerary.
excellent day trip! smooth boat ride down the Potomac, Washington's estate is amazing! dont miss it!
It was really nice, beautiful weather, nice and relaxing cruise. Everyone was so nice and full of information. Would highly recommend it. I learned so much. Definitely worth the price.
The cruise was relaxing after days of walking around Wash. DC. Once you land at Mt Vernon, take the
free shuttle up to the attractions. There are many "out" building to see besides the estate house. The
day we went, there was a reenactment of rev. soldiers and a period market that was cool. The visitor
center had a lot to see and do as well. I really enjoyed the tour. I would have liked to go through the house
twice to catch what I missed the first time.
The tour was great and the cruise was relaxing and enjoyable. I would recommend it to all who visit Washington D. C.
This was a very scenic, interesting, and pleasant way to get to Mt. Vernon. The pier was very easy to find and a very short walk from the Waterfront Metro Station. The narration was quite interesting and there was a lot more to see along the river than I expected. There were several breaks in the narration so you could enjoy the scenery. Mt. Vernon itself is well worth a visit. You are given a ticket when you disembark that tells you the time of your tour and the system worked very well. We were able to see everything, did not feel rushed, and learned a lot from the docents. A wide variety of food options is available for lunch. There are several outbuildings and gardens to visits depending on one's interest. If I have any criticism - and it is very slight - it is that I wish we had had about half an hour more at Mt. Vernon. Ran out of time to really experience the gardens. As usual, very good value for the money.

The ride on the boat was interesting and relaxing. The time at Mt Vernon was just right with ample time to visit all the sites and enjoy the videos and informational displays. Very enjoyable day trip.
The day cruise exceeded my expectations! The trip was a great experience. We especially enjoyed the cruise down the Potomac. The guide did a great job of pointing out and giving details of the sites along the way. We enjoyed snacks and drinks aboard the boat and they were very reasonably priced and good quality. It truly was a highlight of our Washington, DC trip.
Great way to travel the Potomac River and visit Mt. Vernon. Very informative tour.
We had a great time. The river cruise was wonderful. We would have liked a little more time at Mt Vernon (maybe 4 hours instead of 3) but we did see everything. Highly recommend.
The cruise on the Potomac was smooth and very nice, loved the comments by the crew on what we were passing. the only thing I think it needs is a later departure from Mount Vernon. maybe a 5pm departure, there is so much to see and do there, it is hard to fit it all in. but we hustled and saw almost everything, lucky it was a slow day there.
Really enjoyed the trip up and down the Potomac as well as Mt. Vernon. The boat was leisurely and there was lots to see on the ride. Mt. Vernon is a huge place so be sure to wear good walking shoes! Don't stop to eat or rest as there is so much to see that before you know it its time to get back on the boat. No eating on the Mt. Vernon grounds, we packed a small lunch in a backpack and ate on the boat coming home. The boat also sells small meals (like hot dogs) and beverages (their breakfast sandwiches we're pretty good too). We'll go back again someday to see all we missed! We've used Viator across the globe, they've never disappointed us.
Fun and relaxing. Downside: Be prepared to heat your food n the microwave if you choose to purchase food on the boat.
Great tour! Not enough time!!! One of the most enjoyable parts was the actor who played the part of George Washington. He came out to the lawn, answered questions and stayed in character for all answers! The museum was VERY well done, informative and such. Just the running films of George Washington were not that great in the little theaters. Need to be refreshed. But only ONE boat runs out and back to New York each day so BE ON TIME. We almost missed it because we forgot a backpack at the cafeteria which was 1/4 of a mile up the hill!!
