Useful Information
Next, stop at a local park, with the magnificent and ancient city wall in the background. Enjoy the scenery and join the locals in their morning exercises if you wish. The parks in China serve as the heart of the community, where people gather and engage in various activities. As you engage with the locals, immerse yourself in the lively Chinese park culture. Watch as people practice tai chi, play badminton, practice aerobics or paint calligraphy. Listen to the sounds of locals singing opera or playing traditional Chinese instruments.
Then, climb up to the top of the city wall from the South Gate, and grab a bike to start cycling. Ride around the wall, one of the oldest and best-preserved city walls in China. Xi'an’s city wall was built during the 14th-century Ming Dynasty, under the rule of Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang. The city wall forms a rectangle with a length of 39 feet (14 kilometers), and each corner consists of gateways, watchtowers and defense towers.
Enjoy a panoramic view of the city as you cycle along the wall. See city landmarks, take pictures of the different sections of the wall and hear stories about the history of Xi'an, the ancient capital of China. Cycle as much of the wall as you want, and then arrive back at the South Gate where you tour ends. You have the option to rent the bike longer if you’d like to continue biking around the city on your own.
