Immerse yourself in the mountainous majesty of the Swiss Alps on an invigorating 2-day tour of the UNESCO-listed Jugfraujoch region from Zurich. Capture photographs of sweeping Alpine vistas from one of Europe’s highest peaks; explore an Ice Palace in the heart of a frozen glacier; and enjoy a range of rejuvenating outdoor activities during free time spent in either Grindelwald or Interlaken.

Included on the tour is the following; one nights accommodation in a 3-star hotel in either Grindelwald or Interlaken; meals indicated by the itinerary; round-trip transportation from Zurich; and a professional guide.

Day 1: Zurich — Interlaken or Grindelwald
After pickup from central Zurich or your hotel by coach, sit back and savor the excitement as you travel through the splendid countryside to one of Switzerland's most attractive Alpine regions, the Bernese Oberland. Along the way, enjoy live commentary about the region from your professional guide.

Arrive in Interlaken or Grindelwald (depending on option selected) and spend the rest of the day as you please. Your guide will equip you with detailed written information about the sights, attractions and activities available in the town of your choice.

Interlaken: Uniquely located between two lakes, this popular resort town offers great shopping, attractions and outdoor activities. You can cruise on one of the lakes, take the cable car to Harder Kulm mountain or visit the JungfrauPark theme park.

Grindelwald: Nestled in an impressive Alpine landscape, Grindelwald is a paradise for nature lovers. Go hiking to enjoy stunning views of the famous triple peaks Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, take the cable car to the sunny terrace of Mt First or rent a trottibike for a fun ride through town.

For dinner, each town offers a range of restaurants, from authentic local ski lodges to more trendy, modern establishments.

Overnight: 3-star hotel in Interlaken or Grindelwald

Day 2: Interlaken or Grindelwald — Jungfraujoch — Zurich (B)
Enjoy buffet breakfast at your hotel before embarking on a day trip to Jungfraujoch, the Top of Europe. Meet your guide for a scenic drive through the Jungfrau region to Grindelwald (or meet your guide directly in Grindelwald if option selected), where you’ll hop on a cogwheel train for a ride up the Alps via the Kleine Schneidegg mountain pass.

When you arrive at Jungfraujoch, you’re officially at the highest train station in Europe! The Top of Europe immerses you in a high-Alpine wonderland of snow-capped peaks. Soak up the breathtaking panorama view from the Sphinx Observation Terrace overlooking Aletsch Glacier — Europe's longest glacier — and the snow-capped peaks of neighboring countries. Then visit the Ice Palace to walk through the heart of a glacier!

Stop for lunch at a restaurant (own expense) before reconvening with your guide for the train ride back to Lauterbrunnen, where the coach awaits you for the return trip to Zurich.

The tour was fantastic. We spent the night in Grindelwald. This is a better choice than Interlaken if you wish to hike. If you want to shop, then go to Interlaken. The trip to Jungfraujoch was surreal. The guides were great and we really enjoyed the tour.

This is an amazing must do tour! It is definitely worth it to stay overnight. We chose Interlaken and it was the cutest little town. There are so many fun activities to do hanging around for the day and exploring more of this beautiful country.

Very interesting trip with breathtaking scenery. Tour guide was helpful and the top of the mountain train station at Jungfraujoch was definitely worth the trip.

Hubby and I stayed in Interlaken and we agreed that we could live there! Beautiful place to cost. The next day on the Jungfraujoch was interesting but poor weather meant we couldn't see anything from the top. Quite a shame but unavoidable. Be prepared for weather changes.

Evidently overnighting in Interlaken is a new component of the tour. We were given very little information about where the hotel was located and how to get there. Our tour guide had no idea how the process worked since she had never had anyone stay overnight. Luckily she managed to find some information for us and the bus driver took us to the hotel. Other than that, the tour was good and our tour guide was great. One negative is regarding the bus: many broken seats and with a full bus no where else to sit. I would recommend overnighting in Interlaken as it is a beautiful city and breaks up the long day. Amazing scenery.

2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better May 2015

Basically transported to locations then dumped to do own thing. Different guides for both days were boring.

1 star rating: I do not recommend this May 2015

You wouldn't sell us a one day tour even though there was space available on the coach both days. Therefore we had to pay for a two day tour to see what others in our group saw on a day trip. Extra cost plus long walks to and from a less than 3-star hotel. Not worth what we paid.
