The view was breathtaking! Our driver was more than helpful and very polite! worth every penny!
Fantastic tour. Very good commentary. Wonderful scenery. Aerial cable car amazing; the first time we've been on one with an open top. Incredible views. The map for rejoining the tour could have been a lot better.
We had a great time. Our kids had tons of fun and they enjoyed the Funiculur Railway and the CABRIO CABLE car up to Stanserhorn. Overall it was good trip. Good to have for a day.
This was one of the highlights of our vacation. We ended our Rhine cruise with 2 additional nights in Zurich and opted to take this day trip to Lucerne and Stanserhorn. As it turned out, there were only 10 people on this tour this date and it was more like a private your. The guide was great, and because we weren't in a big bus, she spent extra time in Lucerne, which we all enjoyed and appreciated. The highlight of this tour, however, was the Cabrio. The view of the mountains, lakes and towns from on top of the cable car were outstanding, and there was ample time at the top of the mountain to appreciate it.
We were only 4 persons going on this tour and Robert (our guide) explained how the trip would be (In the same bus there was another group doing the Titlis tour) . He explained that a portion of the tour would be without him and for the Cabrio portion he gave us a paper with all the instructions including where to meet him in Lucerne after the ride down from the Cabrio Cable car. The tour started with some explanation about Zurich then we did a first stop to take pictures of the mountain. After that we headed to the Lion monument and did a picture pose there , of course along the trip we got information related to Lucerne. 3rd stop was in Lucerne where we had about 1 hour and 1/2 of free time - so we went to visit the Chapel bridge and had a bite. Next the Bus dropped us at the Stanserhorn Station where we took the funiclar to the Cabrio cable car . The whole thing from bottom to top takes around 40 minutes. Once we reached the summit the view was even more amazing and breathtaking . The paper we had indicated to 2 different times to go down and which train to take back to Lucerne (tickets included) . All the tour was very nice and Robert the tour guide was amazing; he even gave us his personal phone number just in case we had an emergency. Highly recommended !
Very enjoyable time going up Stanserhorn. The view is great as well as the Funicular Railway and Cable car were fun to ride. The tour of Lucerne allowed you to see all of the high points of Lucerne and some free time to explore on your own. We recommend this tour
Excellent day and our tour guide Franz was very knowledgeable and informative. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to get out of the city and see so much in one day!
An excellent tour of a beautiful location. The views from the open air cable car and the peak of Stanserhorn are incredible. The trip to Stanserhorn is on back roads, showing you beautiful Swiss countryside and villages.Everything regard the tour itself worked smoothly, exactly as promised, and we had an excellent and information guide with us. The furnicular train is not impressively steep, but does take you through several small Swiss farms. The cable car is fantastic, particularly from the open air roof. At the top, the peak of Stanserhorn gives you fantastic views, both easy and difficult hiking options, and a revolving restaurant. The restaurant is really more of a cafeteria line, but the seating area does revolve and give you a nice view. A short train ride after Stanserhorn takes you back to Lucerne, where you have an hour or so to explore before rejoining the bus ride home. You should be aware that several tours share the same bus - tours visiting different peaks, tours going to Lucerne only, etc. - so there are several stops to let people on/off. This leaves you wondering what other people are seeing and why they chose the tours they chose, but we were quite happy with ours.
My husband and I had a wonderful experience on the Cabrio. Also our tour guide Anna Lise was very nice and a real professional . Absoultely brilliant day tour, I will difinatly recomend this tour . Thank you Helen
Trip included a scenic route to Lucerne, time to walk around the old section of town (there was more to see than you have time for but it gives you a chance to experience the town) and the railway plus cable car up near the top of Mt Stanserhorn. Enjoyed the outdoor experience of riding on top of the cable car up and down. Once up there is a nice restaurant with a view, time to eat lunch which was a little pricey but compared to Zurich prices it was about the same. There is a lookout area by the the restaurant. From there you are able to walk a path to get to the peak, that takes maybe 20 minutes, mostly uphill. Nice lookout on top. We had a lot of cloud cover on the late August day we went but patches of clear allowed some great views. Glad we went on this trip.
Absolutely brilliant. We loved the tour and the scenery was beautiful. We would certainly recommend this tour.
Mount Rigi was great and we had sucha knowledgeable tour guide! He explained to us on the various tourist spots! Amazing!
Nice places visited, perfect timing and very friendly guide.
It was breathtakingly beautiful, though it was covered by clouds most of the time it was an experience never to be forgotten!!!!!
Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate so it was cold, rainy and snowy during this trip. The Lucerne half of the trip was really nice. Loved the market and the city! Not much to do, however in Mt. Stanserhorn because of the weather. The CabriO, the first of its kind and another feat of Swiss engineering was a fun experience but wasn't able to see the views it would have offered if the weather was clear! Further, the trip to Mt. Stanserhorn was not guided. You have to do this on your own, which is not a real problem for me really. Would have just preferred to have an actual guide to tell you more details!
It was fun. The map handed out for Lucerne meeting place in reference to the train station was confusing. We were lost for a bit because we did not understand the train stop and the meeting place.
In October, it might not have been the best time for morning trips. A bit of rain and mostly foggy scenery. Crowded 2-level bus. Some people put their bags on seats. Most Luzern shops closed by afternoon back from mountain tour.
Antje our tour guide was great, knowledgeable, with good humour.
It poured rain. The Aerial cable car was closed. Took the train up (coggle) and part way it was so rainy and cloudy..we could see nothing. Cold and wet at the top so we came right back down. Lucerne was beautiful but wet!
Tour was quite short. And guide was only for one attraction which was the lion's monument.
Would be good to include other highlights.

Overall, I would say that this is a good day trip from Zurich we went on, to see some remarkable Swiss sights and landscapes. Unfortunately for my wife and I, our trip was marred with a few unfortunate events on July 13th. As outlined on the tour, we opted to be picked up at our hotel; Zurich Swissotel - one of available Zurich hotel pick up points. We were at the hotel’s lobby early that morning, ahead of the scheduled pick up time. When a tour bus pulled in that morning, we approached the driver to inquire if he is from the tour company to pick us, showing him a print out of the tour voucher. Upon a quick look, we were told that we are not the people he is to pick up from Swissotel. Our day’s ordeal are as follows:
1. Fifteen minutes passed and still no sign of our pick up, the hotel’s concierge was kind enough to contact the local tour company on the impending pick up. The driver had apparently indicated that we weren’t at Swissotel when he arrives for the pick up. We in turn were told to make our own way to Sihlquai Bus Terminal before the bus leaves, and agreed that Best of Switzerland Tours will reimburse us for the cab fare. When at Sihlquai Bus Terminal check in point, the lady at the counter refuses to pay for the cab fare. It was a rather chaotic start for us on this tour, contrary to booking the tour via Viator, supposedly a reputable tour operator.
2. At the end of the tour prior to arriving back to Zurich, we asked if we will be dropped off back at our hotel. The driver agreed, and asked that we remain in the bus after our fellow travelers had disembarked at Sihlquai Bus Terminal. As we thought that at least the tour company is making amends for the chaos we went through in the morning. Before letting us off the bus at our hotel, the driver demanded 20 CHF from us with a grin on his face, rejecting the 5 CHF we tipped him!! Wished I remembered his name a bald Portuguese chap. So much for Swiss hospitality huhh?
So buyers beware
We were the only ones on the bus doing it and we're dropped off from another tour and given train tickets to get back to Lucerne after doing the railway and Cable car. The train station is only 500 mars from the end of the Funicular railway so it's not a big deal.We got back to Lucerne and had 2 hours to get to the pick up point for the same bus to pick us up.The views from the Stanserhorn on a nice day would be amazing. As it was a rainy day when we went the view disappeared at half way up. Nice restaurant up the top.
