Go Carbon Neutral
Offset the impact of your travels
Go Carbon Neutral
Youve probably heard the words carbon neutral in the past few months. Thanks to a spate of sobering news from the likes of Al Gore and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the concept of global warming and climate change are finally becoming mainstream.
Many people in the UK are already taking steps to cut their carbon footprint, aided by groups such as Future Forests and Climate Care. At Viator we have created our own carbon-offset program in partnership with Carbonfund.org. Our goal is to be 100% carbon neutral by minimizing our staff travel, office energy usage and shipping costs. And where we cant minimize, we will offset.
Viator.com is committed to being a force for environmental good within the travel community. And we want to help you to do the same.
How to Offset Your Carbon Impact
Air travel has a significant carbon cost. A return flight from London to San Francisco, for example, has a cost of 2.5 tons of carbon, which can be offset by an investment of about US$6.25 / £3.40 / Euro 5.50 / AUD$7.80. As part of Viators partnership with Carbonfund.org, weve made it easy for you to offset the impact of your own travels.
Simply click here or click on the Carbonfund.org logo below to estimate the quantity of carbon your next trip will generate. Carbonfund.org will calculate the cost of your carbon offset, which you can pay for on the spot. Carbonfund.org uses this money to purchase an emissions reduction credit from a relevant organizations project, resulting in less carbon dioxide or other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere than would otherwise occur.
For example, solar power companies often sell carbon offsets. The solar energy company benefits because the carbon offset makes its projects more economically viable. When you purchase a carbon offset through Carbonfund.org, you are supporting renewable energy programs such as wind farms, solar, hydro, geothermal and biomass, as well as carbon sequestration projects including reforestation and replanting.
It feels good to travel carbon neutral.
