Absolutely loved it

This was an outstanding trip, with the only deficiency being the Sofia hotel in Fez, which should be replaced . The tour guide was excellent and accommodating, we had local guides in three of the cities, and the food was generally quite good. Definitely a good value and excellent itinerary. The commentary was in depth, the bus was comfortable and cool, the driver and coach attendant were very attentive. We had guides who assisted us in shopping, which I believe is necessary in Morocco. Also, we were given a hotel in Marrakesh which actually exceeded the rating of the trip we were on, at no extra charge. I would take this tour again, if a different hotel is substituted for the Sofia.

Definitely worth doing

The tour was run through a guide whom I could not speak more highly of. The whole five days was a really good experience, albeit an awful lot of traveling on the coach, which was perfectly comfortable. Rabat and Meknes were only fleeting visits en-route, not much more time than enough for a stretch of the legs and a chance to take some photographs. Casablanca was a disappointment, not really worth seeing, but you would be disappointed had you have gone to Morocco and not seen it! For me, the highlights were Marrakesh and Fez. Both were quite different. In Marrakesh, we had the most fabulous hotel close to the city. The city is a wonderful amalgam of color, sound, smell, and if you dare, taste! Not for the faint hearted or squeamish, Marrakesh is an assault to your senses and once you have spent an afternoon wandering through the city under the unforgiving North African sun, exploring the ancient Palaces, mausoleums and frenetic streets and casbah, leaving just in time to see the sun setting across the old city walls, it will leave you feeling quite intoxicated. Fez was not quite so romantic as Marrakesh, but none the less exciting. One of the largest casbahs in the Arab world, the experience of wandering through the labyrinth of streets and alleys, trying to hang on to your guide's coat tails for fear of getting lost was quite exciting and vibrant. Again, like Marrakesh, it is not for the faint hearted, not all things you see you may necessarily agree with or like. The strung up hedgehogs was a new one on me!

Definitely worth doing

The tour was well organized and the hotels averaged out as good. Some were much better than others. The food was good, however there was some room for improvement. Our guide was friendly and helpful, but his English was pretty sketchy so non-Spanish speakers got left out. Also, he did not give much info about each site beyond what it was and when it was built. Second, Morocco is more than mosques and markets. I would have liked to have had some activities beyond looking at buildings such as the evening shows. Third, we spent too much time on the bus. It's unfair to call the fifth day part of the "tour," when really it was a grueling twelve hour bus trip back to Malaga. There were minimal bathroom stops and no meal breaks. Perhaps the furthest city could be left out and more detailed visits to the other cities. Otherwise, it was a great tour and I think it was worth it.

Fez and Marrakech were great. All nights should be at those two. Too much time on bus and the term panoramic tour means as we drive through the city you can look at it. Sofia hotel is horrible! No authentic food except in optional events which cost a lot extra.

Bus seating was uncomfortable. Too much time was spent on bus traveling rather than touring time. The guides were informative, but this is very much an overview trip.

If you are just looking for a preview of Morocco, then this trip is OK as you will be on the road most of the time, with only short stops for sightseeing in each of the cities other than Fez. The other complaint that we had was that it was appalling that the old and run down Sofia Hotel was included on the 4-star list and we had to stay 2 days there!

It was OK, but could have been better

It was a good group tour, but it could have been better. The hotel in Fez needs to be changed; it is old, it has torn towels and sheets, a smells smoky; in other words, it's not a three-star hotel at all. It might have been helpful to know ahead of time that it was a bilingual tour conducted in Spanish and English, and our guide was better in Spanish than English. When they state "panoramic city tour," it means primarily seeing the city from the tour bus. One needs to know that visiting these five cities entails a lot of time in the bus, something our group did not know about. Plus it would have been nice to have Moroccan food, which was not at the hotel for our dinners.

The major tour guide was dropping us off at Mcdonalds for lunch 2 days. We spent most of the time on the bus, we did not even get to go out and spend a few minutes in several cities that are scheduled in our tour like Tangier, Ceuta. We were dropped off at Casablanca for 15 minutes after I insisted if the cities are listed on our schedule we should be allow to get out of bus and walk around. So basically the only date we really got to see something was in Marakech for half a day of the market and Fez was the first day after we drove for whole day we arrived at the hotel for dinner but nothing more.

However, the local guide in Fez was super wonderful, he was very funny and he know the local market very well. He showed us some amazing hidden places behind some little ugly isles, was a total world when you step into the little door to find a totally beautiful high ceiling shops and restaurants. We also passed by some strawberry and banana farms on the way, but we did not stop. As usual the tour guide just told us what was passing us by. When I was doing a tour in Beijing, China, the tour gave us a surprise by stopping by a peach farm and letting us pick peaches for an hour. Everyone was so excited.

We confirmed the pickup venue with the tour company three days before departure. The pickup time was to be 7:50 a.m. We waited from 7:20 a.m., and the bus had not yet come by 8:15. So we called the tour company, and the lady asked us to call again at 10:00 a.m.! By 10:00, the tour group would be far away. Fortunately, she called the tour guide immediately after we refused to phone in at 10:00. Some arrangement was made. We got picked up at 8:40 a.m., almost an hour late. We hope the pickup can be done better in the future.
