This two day independent stopover includes some the highlights of Uluru (Ayers Rock). Marvel at the wonder of Ayers Rock and the beauty of The Olgas. Includes an overnight at the Ayers Rock Resort.

Note: Anangu, the traditional owners, would prefer that visitors choose not to climb Uluru. The climb may be closed due to weather or cultural reasons. No refunds will be given in this situation.

Arrive at Ayers Rock Airport before 1.00 p.m. and be welcomed and transferred to your hotel. Travel out to the domes of Kata Tjuta (Olgas) and walk into Walpa (Olga) Gorge, where some of the plants are so rare that they are only found at these sandstone formations. Keep an eye out for the petroglyphs (stone carvings) that can be found on the floor of the gorge. In the late afternoon, stop to enjoy a complimentary glass of wine while watching Uluru at sunset. Admire the colours on Uluru as the sun sets over the desert. Tonight you might like to enjoy the Uluru Aussie Barbecue (Additional Cost)

Day 2: Uluru at Sunrise - Kantju Gorge - Mutitjulu Waterhole - Guided Mala Walk

Rise early and enjoy a tea or coffee as the sun casts its first rays on the scarred surface of Uluru. With the sun still climbing, take a guided walk to Mutitjulu waterhole. See cave paintings and hear the legends of Kuniya Tjukurpa (Python Dreaming). Tour the base of Uluru before joining your guide and learn about the geology and flora of the region on the Mala Walk. Explore Kantju Gorge before visiting the Cultural Centre and Maruku Arts and Craft Cooperative, you may see Aboriginal artists at work. Alternatively, forgo the guided walks to climb Uluru. Transfer to Ayers Rock airport for flight after midday.

    Clothing:

    You will find that casual clothing of all types is the most comfortable. Lightweight drip-dry clothing is ideal, although some warmer clothing for evenings will be handy. Most hotels provide washing and drying facilities. Comfortable shoes are essential on all tours and we suggest that you also pack a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, a torch and insect repellent.

    Smoking:

    Government regulations forbid smoking inside coaches and aircraft within Australia. Smokers will find that the frequent stops we make provide opportunities to smoke. Requests for smoking/non-smoking rooms will be passed on to hotels but cannot be guaranteed.

    Luggage Limits:

    Each passenger may take one suitcase, the sum of its width, length and depth not to exceed 160cm (63inches) and a weight limit of 20 kilograms (44 pounds). Airlines generally permit 1 cabin bag per person to be carried on aircraft. Baggage is entirely at owners risk during the tour and the operator strongly recommends travel insurance to be taken out by the passenger to cover baggage and any unforeseen circumstances.
