Bridge on the River Kwai and Thailand-Burma Railway Tour
Quite a memorable visit.
, Feb 2020
Despite the long journey from Bangkok (and back) the experience of being at the bridge over the river Kwai was quite emotional. The train ride and visiting the Commonwealth War Cemetery gave an added sense of occasion.
Would have like to have lingered a little longer to remember those FEPOWs whose lives were cut short on the death railway. Quite memorable!
This was an excellent tour. It was a long time in mini bus being transported, but it is a long drive from Bangkok (2-3 Hours), and that can't be helped. That is where it is, and it was well worth the journey, and really lovely lunch! Guide was excellent with information etc. I wish we'd have had a bit more time at each place, but because of distance from Bangkok, time was important, to fit a tour like this in, in one day. Well worth it and very pleased I went. Also was great to meet other Brits who were on the tour. And felt like I owed the many soldiers who suffered so much and died there, a visit, despite heat and no sleep/jet lag. They will have suffered so much more!
Train ride was just how you imagine and the boat ride was great also. Great experience, a real shame though you don’t get to travel back on train & boat that would make it even better. The drive is very long on return my only criticism.
Take a memorable ride on the Thailand-Burma Railway, also known as the Death Railway for the thousands of POWs and forced laborers who lost their lives building it during World War II. On this day trip from Bangkok, visit the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery and the JEATH War Museum, and hear moving war stories from your guide. Then ride a long-tailed speedboat down the Kwai River where you have a view of the famous bridge.
The entire tour was well organized and our guide, Donna, shared such great information about the Thai culture, temples and her home town of Ayutthaya. With 4 stops we thought things would feel rushed but actually it was just the right amount of time at each spot. And the boat ride back to Bangkok, wow what a lunch - so many choices; and lots to see along the way. Terrific day all around.
Combine a visit from Bangkok to Ayutthaya—the UNESCO-listed ancient capital of Siam—with a riverboat trip on the Chao Phraya River. An informative guide highlights Thailand’s fascinating history as you explore Ayutthaya temples, stone ruins and Buddha statues in the old capital of Thailand, which was ransacked by invading Burmese in the 18th century. This full-day tour includes lunch and returns you to Bangkok by boat.
An awesome way to spend the day with excellent Historic information. Experiencing the floating market and train ride was pretty sweet. Our guide was very pleasant and super funny. Felt really comfortable from the very start.
I'd rate it higher if I could. Kat was wonderful. The train trip and market were astonishing. The long tail boat ride was fun even though it was a bit uncomfortable. The floating market was interesting though it could have been a bit shorter. The little boat ride was OK. Fun to do though a bit touristy. The only downside was that the van was pretty uncomfortable for such lengthy rides.
Experience two of Bangkok’s most famous traditional markets on this half-day tour. Benefit from a small group size as you ride the train to the Maeklong Railway Market, uniquely situated on a working railway track. After free time for shopping, continue to the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market and cruise around the stalls on a longtail boat.

Airey is amazing
, Feb 2020
We had an amazing tour thanks to Airey. Less than 10 minutes from the hotel, we got caught in a 2-hour traffic jam. Somehow, Airey (and our safe driver) were still able to get us to all the sites. Airey is a kind, knowledgeable person who made our day very special -- exploring the Erawan falls, the elephant reserve and so much more. THANK YOU.

Great experience- really worth it. all run smoothly from booking via Viator through to the follow-up from Guru Trip ahead of the morning pick up, very professional and attentive. Our guide was Rose: she is really well prepared, friendly and accommodating. We could not have been luckier to have her. The sights are stunning, and those included in this tour are well chosen if you consider that Ayutthaya is massive. Rose explained the historical context and gave us a detailed history of the specific sites, so I felt I Left knowing a lot more about the history of Siam than just the information about the specific places we visited. Recommended
Excellent trip all around. Wat was an excellent guide - knowledgeable, considerate and personable. I learned so much about Buddhism that Ayutthaya history on this day out. The small group size was fantastic too, as you got to meet with independent, like-minded travellers without the hassle of waiting around for a busload of people at each stop.

We loved the care these elephants are receiving. I know this is a new sanctuary and hopes it continues to grow. The driver was pleasant, food was good and the interaction with the elephants interesting. A little pricey for the venue.

This tour was amazing. It is easily one of my top favorite tour here in BKK. We were on a Private tour, picked up on our hotel and brought to this railway market with vendors moving their goods and umbrellas aways from track as train approaches, it was a fun sight and experience from inside and outside the train when it was all happening. You can do shopping in the market as well with cheap and local prices. The second part was this coconut farm which is the least fun stop of the tour, nothing much to say as this is like a tour filler IMO. And lastly, you will be taken to this Damnoen floating market with boat ride while checking the vendors.. tip: DON’T buy souvenirs there, too overpriced. Haggling are expected though. And lastly, our tour guide Ms. Jim aka as our photographer and Ms. Bee, the most energetic and fun driver ever are both awesome and the reason why this trip was super fun. Overall, it’s so worth it for the experience. Highly recommended.
We enjoyed our tour with Mod. She was very knowledgeable and we learned so much about the places we visited and about Thailand in general. The Railway Market is amazing and it is very nice to see the action form both inside the train and from the market. The market is very authentic and Mod showed us many produce we didn't know about. The floating market is more touristic, but a must see. It's amazing to see the floating market tradition still alive. As part of the tour, you get to see a salt farm and a coconut farm, both very interesting.
I highly recommend this tour!
There were 8 in our party, including 4 teens, on a short stopover. Everyone agreed that it was an excellent tour. Great way to see Bangkok area highlights during a brief stay and get out of the busy city. Vicky is an excellent tour guide and was able to answer all of our questions and provide a lot of detail about the Thai culture. She is friendly professional. Thank you! Van was on time to pick us up at our hotel and driver was courteous.

Enjoy a boat ride and a walking tour through the respective markets, enjoying personalized attention from your guide and an intimate atmosphere with just 10 people or fewer. This tour allows you to get in touch with local culture, far off the beaten path.
Bangkok traffic is so horrific that you see approximately four hours worth of "stuff" and six hours worth of driving.
The museum and train ride are very interesting. Our tour guide's command of English was not great, so he was not all that helpful in explaining things or offering history (fortunately we knew the history), but it was nice to have someone lead the way for us. He was kind enough to make sure my lunch was gluten-free, as requested. So, yes, worth doing, but be prepared and bring a book to read during the traffic jams.

A walk through History
, Jan 2020
What an amazing trip out into the ancient capital. The sites of the summer palace, the ancient Wats and the history behind the once capital, now historic preservation site.
Our guide Oh (apologies if I spelled this wrong) was amazing. She took us to the wondrous sites and transported us back through the stories of the grounds we were standing on. As a treat we had lunch at this amazing Thai restaurant where the flavors just dazzled the taste buds. As an added bonus we were introduced to a dessert Roti (we nicknamed it Sugar Hay) and was just amazed.
To anyone wanting to experience a step back into Thailand's ancient roots, this is the tour for you.
A nice day trip from Bangkok. Our guide (called Loi , not sure the spelling) is very nice and she told us clearly about the history of Thailand. Driver is good too and the car is big and clean. We all enjoyed the trip.
Tour was very interesting. We were We were very lucky to have a very good Guide who’s English was excellent.
Places we visited were very nice, especially Summer Palace.
Ayutthaya was also interesting with a lot of history.

Tour of wonderful sites
, Feb 2020
Our tour guide Nick and driver were wonderful. We had a very comfortable car and they made sure we were dropped off/picked up as close to the start and end points of each tour site. Nick was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic throughout the tour. The driver was really nice. We had an early start at 7am in order to time seeing the train arrive at the Train Market. The long-boat ride was a lot of fun zooming through the canals of Bangkok and ending at the floating market. We tasted some unique foods along the way. These took up the action-packed morning. For the quieter afternoon we went for a lunch in Ayutthaya followed by touring the World Heritage Site temple ruins. We made it back to our downtown Bangkok hotel by 730pm. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. If you are sensitive to heat, I'd recommend you split this into 2 half day tours. Its a long day and you will have to content with Bangkok traffic, especially on your return - no way around it. A great tour to see some exceptional Bangkok outer-areas sites and made exceptional by the personalized experienced provide by Nick and the driver. Highly recommend.
A wonderful day trip to the Train Market, Floating Market and Ayutthaya ruins...all fascinating and enjoyable with the extraordinarily friendly, fun and informative Susie guiding us through the highlights. Professional, on time, courteous, convivial, eager to share tasty treats, and did everything to ensure that our day was perfect. Highly recommended.

Very pleasant day out
, Jan 2020
Hotel pickup was very organised, the tour guide Nick (40 years experience) was very informative and could answer any of our questions with ease. The pace of the tour was pleasant as we did not feel rushed around. Only downside was that there was only one scheduled food stop 6 hours into the tour. Would recommend taking your own snacks and water, but a great tour.
Wanted to see the old city. The tour is nice and the guide said we could take a 45 minute boat ride at an extra $9 per person. We did that and enjoyed it a lot. Well worth the extra dollars.
Since the city is an hour and a half drive one way you see a lot but at a fast rate. Lunch was a buffet that was OK.
The trip is really nice, covers the most important monuments. However, the lunch place was quite disgusting and smelled terribly, yet the food was surprisingly tasty! The tour guide was very sweet, helpful, kind and had a lot of knowledge, but her English was really poor and it was hard to communicate.
The ruined city of Ayutthaya was once the most important and powerful place in Thailand. Travelers interested in Thai culture and history, as well as Buddhism, will love this day tour. Visit some of Ayutthaya’s must-see sights, including temples, palaces, and enormous Buddha statues. This organized tour is an easy way to visit Ayutthaya, as it will save you the hassle of catching buses or trains.
Our guide was pretty quiet on the long ride to the floating markets. I like when guides share the country history and information about where we are driving as we go. Also the floating market was a lot more touristy than I expected. My advice would be to skip the boat ride (they literally take you only thru the souvenir area and go so slow that 2 turns takes the whole 30 minutes). Instead walk to the left, toward the start of the floating market and experience more of the market aspect rather than the tourism one.
Go beyond Bangkok city limits and gain a deeper understanding of life beyond the capital as you explore the floating markets of Damnoen Saduak. Travel by long-tailed speedboat as a guide unpacks the secrets of these 19th-century canals built by King Rama IV. Over the course of this half-day trip, cruise past vendors selling freshly picked produce, handmade sweets, and interesting souvenirs.
Benefit from traveling with a private guide to two distinctive Thai markets on this full-day tour from Bangkok. Stop first at Damneon Saduak Floating Market and explore the market by motorboat. Next, ride the train into Maeklong Railway Market and watch the vendors quickly move their wares off the tracks as the train arrives. Finish with visits to a coconut farm and salt fields before returning to Bangkok.
Bella took us on a private tour of Ayutthaya and it was the highlight of our time in Thailand. The ancient temples were amazing and Bella's knowledge of he area made everything come alive. The tour also included several stops to sample local food offerings. Everything was delicious and different from anything we had ever eaten before. Thanks, Bella, for the wonderful time we spent we spent with you. And thanks for the amazing photos you took of us along the way. We will remember our time with you for many years to come.
We experienced a wonderful day with our guide Sasa and driver. They were so knowledgable of the area and we had a really fun day. We experienced the local market, a number of the old wats and sites in the city and the food was great at every stop. Highly recommended!!

Bridge on the River Kwai and Thailand-Burma Railway Tour
Great Tour to Remember this Important History
, Feb 2020
A big day starting with a 6.10am pick up from my hotel in downtown Bangkok and we stopped to pick up the guide, Om, on the way out of the city. He explained the stops and schedule for the day as well as the history of the building of the bridge. I was really interested as my grandfather was a Japanese POW who was ne of the lucky ones that survived living and working on the bridge construction. Unfortunately I was unable to understand everything he said with his strong Thai accent. I suggest providing this information in a pamphlet as well.
We were given a good amount of time at the cemetery, museum, boat ride, bridge walk, train ride and cave/market stop. The lunch was really lovely and there were adequate toilet stops. On heading back to Bangkok, Om advised the return trip would take around 2 1/2 hours. Unfortunately this was not the case as the traffic was really bad getting back into the city. He had a phone so would be able to know this prior. No update was given and Om disembarked the bus going into the city, leaving the tour group with the bus driver who didn’t speak much English. The driver told me It would be two more hours to get to my hotel. I contacted my husband who advised when and where I should get off the bus and take a subway close to our hotel. I had to disembark in heavy traffic with motorbikes rushing by, with no apology from the driver.
Overall, I felt the tour was very good, just let down by Bangkok’s shocking traffic. I recommend the tour guide/bus driver provide better updates and provide alternative transport information.
An awesome tour of an important piece of history ,our guide and driver were great ,so were all the passengers ,the lunch was also very tasty ,I would suggest upgrading on the train, guarantees a seat.,thanks to all for a good day tour.money well worth spending.

Private Tour to Bridge Over The River Kwai and Hellfire Pass
, Dec 2019
We all enjoyed the trip. Tour guide "Joe" did a great job and answered all our questions with enough time at each stop. The only part of the trip that we did not do was the long boat ride. When questioned about that stop "Joe" was puzzled. Did not seem that he knew what I was talking about.
This is a history lesson every Aussie needs to do. Our your tour guide Tao had so much to tell us and he was more than willing to accommodate any question from us. Vehicle was comfortable and plenty of water provided.
The tour was amazing, so much history to be absorbed and reflected upon. It is a very long day but the transport was excellent. Our guide was a wealth of information, but unfortunately we could barely understand him, his English was not clear at all, in saying that he was a lovely man and very helpful in any way necessary. His compassion regarding the history was very evident. We had a great day, with excellent food for lunch and came away feeling very humbled.

Private Tour: Full-Day Ayutthaya Tour from Bangkok
From $166.67 (Price varies by group size )
, Dec 2019
My wife and I booked this tour at the last minute late at night and were so glad we did. The following morning we were met promptly at our hotel by our tour guide called Siri. She was a Thai lady who could communicate very well in English and was well organised and very pleasant.
Following a 1 hour drive, which included a planned comfort break we visited all the key sites in Ayutthaya which were visually breathtaking. Throughout the day our tour guide Siri was very knowledgeable and informative and knew all the best spots for photo opportunities. The buffet lunch also provided was excellent with plenty of choice.
Overall a fantastic tour not to be missed and our thanks to Siri for being so friendly and professional.
Excellent tour. Private transportation with no delays.
I enjoyed the tour and got to see many historic locations in Thailand.
The tour guide was great. She knew her history and spoke English very well.
I highly recommend this tour as a family or solo.

Ayutthaya Temples Tour with River Cruise from Bangkok
From $67.70 (Price varies by group size )
, Feb 2020
It’s a wonderful place. Really different of what we see in Bangkok.
The only thing was that we have to wait to change bus because ours turn off the air conditioner.
We have to move from one temple to another sweating in the bus
This trip is a must if you have the day to squeeze it in to your travel plans. The summer palace was beautiful and we enjoyed walking around the grounds. Ayutthaya was incredible and especially enjoyed Wat Mahathat and the Buddha head in the banyon tree! Our guide Donna was spectacular., spoke excellent English and really knows her history, especially since Ayutthaya is her home town! She was truly delightful! Thank you Donna! Lunch buffet onboard the river cruise back to Bangkok was tasty and plentiful. We felt there was adequate time at each of the stops as well.
The guide was very nice. The sites were interesting. Main issue was when traveling by boat back to Bangkok, we were at the top of the boat and we nearly got hit by the bridges that were very low. Then afterwards, some security guys came when we came under low bridges. Food was nice.
Visit the Ayutthaya temples on a cultural day trip from Bangkok, it's a highlight of any Thailand visit. The tour to the ancient capital of Siam includes a trip by riverboat, a must-do activity when you're in Bangkok, with close-up views of the temples and historic sites that line the Chao Phraya River
It was an efficient day tour going through main Ayutthaya sites with river cruise. Logistics are well managed and we enjoyed our time fully on each site. Buffet lunch was good. PA system (on bus/vessel) may need some improvement.
Our tour to Ayutthaya was so amazing. So much to see there feels like we barely scratched the surface...but was a great way to see the countryside and experience a few of the ancient sites there. And look forward going back in the future. Our guide was very knowledgeable and really made our experience there so much better than if we were on our own. We would highly recommend this tour.
The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ayutthaya is a must-visit day trip destination from Bangkok. This tour is the easy way to get there as you won’t have to worry about catching a bus on your own. You’ll spend a whole day touring the archaeological sites, palaces, and temples of the former capital of Thailand. The tour includes a delicious lunch and a river cruise back to Bangkok.
This tour was wonderful for me. On the day after I arrive in Bangkok, it got me used to alot of things including the travel by boat on the river, where the boat stop is near my hotel etc. So i was then able to travel by boat on my own after the tour, which I really wanted to do. And we saw fabulous things, temples, palaces, various Breathtaking Buddha statues. Lot of good info from tour guide, who also was not at all pushy, not trying to speed things up or push me in the direction of places where i might spend money, clothes, jewellery etc, where the tour guide may get commision. (which I have experienced before). She was happy to go exactly where I wanted to go and it was a happy and relaxed tour for me.
I highly recommend a private guide! I had limited time and Elena was amazing at packing as much in as possible. She was extremely knowledgeable at every location we went. I asked to see some things off the beaten path and she took me to 5 different homes along the river outside of Bangkok that are part of an agri-tourism project and I got to see farms that grow lotus flowers, orchids, fruits, rice, etc. Each home was inviting with food and fresh water to share. I can't wait to return to see more!
Andy was absolutely amazing. We booked this private tour our first full day in Bangkok and am so glad we did. Andy helped orient us to the city and explained a lot of Thai culture and traditions so that we were aware for the rest of our trip. He was all about doing exactly what we wanted but offered advice on things to not miss. We took taxis most places but still were very go-go-go to make the most of the 8 hours we had together. We "temple hopped" with Andy and he was filled with knowledge about each place and was really passionate to share Buddhism knowledge too. My advice would be to go to the grand palace first thing, we went mid day and the crowds were terrible.
This customizable private tour showcases the best of Bangkok and beyond. Follow your personal guide through some of the city's top attractions, including Wat Arun Grand Palace, and the Floating Market. Explore some of Bangkok's most vibrant neighborhoods, sample local cuisine (own expense), and wander the shops and sites with a local who offers insight and information along the way.
Private Excursion to Maeklong Railway and Floating Markets
From $105.99 (Price varies by group size )
Made our trip to Bangkok
, Jan 2020
What an amazing excursion! Sawong was our guide for the day and we felt so honored to have him with us. He was truly the highlight of the trip! He took us to the train station so that we could actually ride the train into the market and see it from a different perspective (which was so fun) we then walked around the railway market and he showed us all the fun stalls, described the food and laughed and joked with us the whole time! We then went to get on the longboat which was a nice break in the day. We thought that we would actually float through the markets but, full disclosure you do not. You get out of the longboat and walk the market. At first we were disappointed but seeing how busy it was on the river and that we could eat and buy easier on land we were fine just watching! We then ended up in a fun outdoor style restaurant for Pad Thai before heading home. I would highly recommend this excursion!
Our tour with guide Pong was excellent. We booked a private tour and it was really nice to have only the three of us to keep track of, as the markets and the Maeklong Railway are very crowded. I especially liked all the treats he bought for us, letting us sample many of the local foods--which would have been difficult for us to do--not knowing the language. He provided lots of information, was very knowledgeable and attentive--good pace and all in all, a very enjoyable tour.
Private Excursion to Maeklong Railway and Floating Markets

Susie was an outstanding guide for my wife and I. Susie and the driver did an excellent job taking us to everything on the itinerary and explaining the culture. We rode the train and saw a lot of markets. She was excellent and I would recommend this trip to anyone that has never been to Thailand and is looking for a nice trip to fill up half a day. This lasted about 6 hours.
