My husband and I enjoyed this with Radius Tours. Aiden was our guide and did a wonderful job. Once we arrived in Fussen we had a little time for a snack before the long walk up to the castle. After the castle tour we had our own free time, but was not enough as we had to hussle down the hill to get ready for our ride back to Munich.
We loved it. This was the best tour ever, our guide was excellent. When we entered the castle the guide said no pictures were to be taken.
But at the end of the tour he turned away and we all got to take awesome pictures.
We also had a horse carriage ride down the mountain. I recommend this tour.

Our tour guide was exceptional. Keeping us together for the train ride and the tour. I apologize for not remembering his name....I feel like such a Nob. He will know who he is with that said. From Africa He made some great recommendations on grabbing a quick bite to eat before we started up Heavy Metal and Sausages! Awesome! and he had a wealth of information. We learned so much about the hows and the whys of the castle. Also information he gave us about the castle showed up in Munich when we toured a day later. Great tour and even greater tour guide. THANKS! PS. take the time to walk up to the bridge!!
Neuschwanstein is obviously one or the most charming places you can go, located near the Bavarian Alps just half a click from the Austrian border it's quite romantic and spectacular. You would enjoy both surrounding landscapes and the castle itself observing the beauty of the castle and nature outside watching the paragliders in the air above.
Try planning your trip on a sunny day to get best pictures from around the castle and of course Marienbrucke.
Also, special thanks to our tour guide Verena from Radius Tours who was keeping us engaged with her stories of the castle and King Ludwig all the way from the very first second of our tour to the last one.
This tour was amazing. Our guide Keith Scottish was very knowledgeable and made the day more fun. It was nice having a guide escort us to the Castle and back. The trains on the way back ended up being canceled and Keith arranged transportation back without us having to worry about it.
Spectacular!! Our guide Jeff was very entertaining and helpful the whole day. The tour is really nice, even the train rides through the Bavarian country side have amazing views. Then the castle, just as if it came out of a fairy story.
The tour was great for the price. It was nice having travel accommodations to and from the castle handled for us. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and made sure we had a great time. We also were able to skip the line and go right into the castle. Great views everywhere. Definitely worth it!
A truly beautiful place! Verena was fun to travel with and she had very good stories about King Ludwig and his castles.
Radius took excellent care of us during our full-day tour of Neuschwanstein Castle. Our guide, Aidan was engaging and very informative giving us lots of little insider facts that the tour run by the castle would have completely missed. He was also super helpful in helping everyone on the tour make the most of their time at the castle and in Munich overall. We left enchanted by the beauty of the castle and surrounding area as well as the story of Ludwig II and the Wittelsbach dynasty. I would highly recommend to anyone spending a few days in Munich!
Getting past the crowds with a private van is worth the price alone. Amir our guide was excellent. The castle itself inside is just OK, but the Black Forest setting is incredible.
We loved the small group train tour. Roland, our tour guide couldn't have been better. He took care of all the details, providing the small group with all the information we needed to navigate the grounds and castle. Roland was interesting, humorous and provided an interesting history of the castle. Such a great value. Highly recommend.
Awesome Tour. I strongly suggest Radius Tours as an excellent Tour company to use this. The climb walk up to the castle is very tiresome, but totally worth it. The tour guide was excellent also. All in all a MUST see tour when in Munich.
Great way to see Neuschwanstein Castle. We had an amazing tour guide who gave us really good history. She was also very organised and got us up to the castle with the mini bus, which was appreciated.
The tour was terrific. Nic our guide was fantastic, personable, and full of knowledge. The castle tour itself was quite short, but the walk up was filled with insight. The location itself was beautiful. Nic also gave us great individual advice on restaurants and things to do when we returned to Munich. The day was an absolute pleasure.
There are multiple buses picking up at Central. They will direct you to the correct bus- have your voucher ready. Tell the guide you are on the OVERNIGHT tour. They may ask for small group, premium tour, private tour travelers that they can not find. THIS IS YOU. You are not on the DAYTRIP tour. If you mess this up, as we did, it is not a big problem. This happens and Danielle put us back on track at the excelled hotel the company booked for us.
Overnight allows you to see all three castles, hike around the lake, and see the museum after a great lunch without the rush.
This tour made it easy to get to the castle and provided us with some background information on Ludwig and the history behind Neuschwanstein. Train ticket there, bus to the site, lunch stop, bus to the top of the crazy hill, and back to Munich all for one price!
Guide -Roland -v good and entertaining. Remember additional cost for bus and tour of castle. Even after bus there us quite walk from viewing platform to castle esplanade. If you choose horse and carriagedo on way down as you won't want go viewing platform, uphill, after castle. Queues for bus tickets ridiculous in hot weather. More needs done to process bus tivket queues quicker. Remember if u choose to walk from bottom, it is v long and steep. You'll need to be fit and have lots water. Castle v well preserved inside and out and spectacular views on good day. Hof ttowards bottom hill -with seating up side, v good and reasonably priced.
We really enjoyed this tour. Our tour guide Keith was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. The castle is definitely a must see! Don't forget to enjoy Quarkballchen donut that the area is known for...so good!!!!
Taking the city bus was a little disconcerting at first, but once we were near the castle it became clear why we had paid a little extra for the experience. The timing for the ride up to the castle, the tour and the carriage ride all were perfectly timed so that we had time to look around but also moved to the next thing without waiting. I would have liked the tour for Neuschwangau to be included also--once you are there, you really do want to go in both castles, but adding it on a sunny day in July wasn't possible because of the line.
Our guide couldn't have been better. He was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. The tour of the castle interior was rather short and by audio guide because that's how Neuschwanstein is run... but there was plenty to absorb from our real guide before and after. The grounds were fun to explore as well. Also: getting to the castle is slightly complicated, so having a guide is a definite plus!
Wonderful tour w/Aidan as our tour guide. Train ride was great, castle stunning. About a 30 minute walk up a steep paved road to reach the castle. Take the bus if you need to. Marian Bridge was open, see that for the best photo op. Just a wonderful day. Highly recommend!!

Adrian was the best tour guide! He made the day into an adventure... sharing so much rich backstory and history along our travels to and from the castle. He was a wealth of information! The tour was great, all the work was done for us, we just had to be at the set locations at the set times and all of the thinking and navigating was done for us.
We had wonderful experience with our trip to Neuschwanstein. Our tour guide, Petra, did an excellent job providing historical background, guiding us through the trains/bus, and making sure everyone received personal attention.
If we had it to do over, I would include the Hohenschwangau tour too- just to see more of the interior of the castles because the interior tour of Neuschwanstein is only 30-40mins. Also, I would recommend taking the bus to the castle rather than walking due to the time limit you have. This would allow you to see more of the castle grounds/Marian bridge before your group goes into the castle.
We were very pleased with our trip- Thank you!
This is a great day trip if you are staying in Munich. The price includes your transportation to and from the castle. It's an unbelievably beautiful place and we'd highly recommend visiting.
We had an enthusiastic and friendly tour guide - Austin - who kept us all together for the journey to and from the castle from Munich. Austin stopped periodically to talk about Ludvig II and how the castle came to be in his own style which was funny, factual and compelling. I highly recommend this tour, and Austin, as both were well organised and allowed us to skip all the tourist lines and long walk up to the castle. Everything was smooth and easy and it was an enjoyable day.
Don't go to Neuschwanstein yourself - go through this tour and make your day quicker and easier!
