As a first time kayaker, Dwayne and Abner were great tour guides! Very knowledgeable on the way getting to the location as well as throughout the hike and in the caves. 10/10 would recommend. Beautiful scenery on the hikes and the caves were amazing to explore. Thank you.
Venture deep inside an ancient cave system at Nohoc Chen Park on a cave kayaking adventure from Belize City. Old legends and an underground waterfall await inside a series of caverns that you explore by single or double kayak, wearing an LED headlamp to illuminate crystalline rock formations. Hike through the Belizean rain forest and paddle down open stretches of the Caves Branch River on this half-day tour in the heart of the Maya Mountains.
We were glad we did the ziplines first since there is a lot of climbing uphill, but we made it. Each of the five lines was a little more fun, and after the third I even started to look around and enjoy the views instead of just concentrating on hanging on, and braking only at the end (the first run we all braked too much and came up short of the platform, but they hauled us in)
The Cave tubing was cool, also literally. After carrying our gear for 30 minutes and wading across the river three times, which helped keep us cool, we reached the caves. They tied all 12 rafts together, we hopped in and off we floated. There was a little three foot waterfall that we passed and the guide made sure we all got soaked. Lots of fun. It would have been nice to be able to take a few pictures while rafting but we didn't bring a camera. One guy in our group had a (phone) camera in a bag but the pictures were distorted by the bag. he took his camera out , took some pics then put it back for protection. We came out of the caves into the rain forest (it was raining), how neat. We drifted for 10-15 minutes back to our starting point, just relaxing. Quite a day!
Go cave tubing and ziplining on an active shore excursion from Belize City that goes deep into the Belizean rain forest. Float through an underground cave system, soar between treetops, and visit a butterfly house to see some of the rain forest’s most colorful creatures; combining the activities is a great way to ensure you can experience two adventurous Belize highlights, even if you have limited time in port.
Excellent staff. Tour was amazing . Boat ride took 45 minutes out in Caribbean off shore. So you need to be prepared to sit for the ride . We stopped to snorkel in reef and then made another stop to swim with sting ray and sharks. Island for lunch is remote and cute . Lunch was not appealing. Overall trip was well worth it.
Everything was as described and more. Only thing not described was that they stopped at caye caulker 2 times...once to order lunch (at your own expense) and once to eat the lunch. All this makes trip longer..
Returned about 2:30PM. VERY BEAUTIFUL. JUST WANTED MORE TIME AT 2ND STOP TO VIEW CORAL, ETC.
Snorkel among the vibrant coral gardens of the world’s second-largest barrier reef on a day trip from Belize City. Cruise across the cool blue Caribbean to a spot with shallow depths and clear waters, ideal for admiring colorful sea fans, finger coral, and sponges teeming with fish. At a second stop, dive into waters churning with throngs of (harmless) nurse sharks and sting rays, and then reward your bravery with rum punch and a beach break on the laid-back island of Caye Caulker.
Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray Alley Snorkeling Tour
Super Fun Snorkeling and Must See Cay Caulker Island
, Jan 2020
Our boat driver Emerson took his job as our boat driver very seriously. The 45 minute ride out to the reef on his super 35mph fast with 200hp motor boat was a little choppy on the way out. On the way back after our Wow snorkeling with sharks and stingrays he drove the boat to the back side of the island and showed us how the tarpon fish jump high for fish. We want to go back to Cay Caulker island - the lunch was great and the town is super tropical (no cars - only bicycles and golf carts). Caesar a snorkeling guide was great with our 3 year old grandson which was his 2nd time snorkeling. On the way back to Belize City we spotted a group on dolphins.
The whole experience was amazing! Our snorkel tour guide, Stacy, was patient and incredibly knowledgeable. She pointed out fish and coral and was able to name them. One of the best parts was when Stacy dove down and an Eel followed her out of his cave. Then she took us in the water to watch the Nurse Shark feeding. She was right in the middle petting the sharks and helping us touch them. James was the boat driver and Jose was along to help us. They were both friendly and helped make it a great day!
We had a wonderful day exploring the Belize Barrier Reef with Stacy. She was an awesome tour guide - she shared so much with us about her country. It is obvious that she is passionate about Belize and loves to share that passion with people visiting.
My husband was excited to snorkel, but I am not a strong swimmer and was very nervous. They made sure I was comfortable, helped me get my bearings in the water and I had the most amazing time watching the wildlife and seeing the reef. Just stunning!
Unfortunately, there was a large group of people that booked our tour as well and insisted that it was a private tour and were rude and disrespectful to the staff. They refused to board the boat until Stacy had already tried everything, so we left and then they yelled and forced us to come back.
It was really frustrating for us as fellow tourists because these rude people basically took almost an hour of our day. But we were just in awe with how Stacy, Patrick, and the rest of the crew continued to smile and be as kind to them as possible and kept the tour on a positive note.
We chose this tour last minute because Royal Caribbean canceled a previously schedule excursion on us at the last minute. I'm so grateful that happened because this day couldn't have been better!
Thank you, Stacy! We will look you up when we move to Belize! ;)
Splash into one of Belize’s top dive spots on a snorkeling tour to Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray Alley. Swim among colorful coral reefs teeming with fish in this protected channel, and then feel the thrill of snorkeling among a throng of harmless nurse sharks and stingrays during a feeding frenzy. Relax with a rum punch back on board the boat, and spend some time exploring the laid-back island of Caye Caulker on this memorable voyage.
This was a fun experience. The only complaint I have wasn't with the excursion, but rather with the instructions provided with the ticket. In one place it said to wear thick-soled shoes which we did. Later it said to bring water shoes which we did. What they didn't make clear is that the water shoes need to be thick-soled since we had to wear them to walk two miles on gravel and rocks and our feet were really sore by the time we got to the river. Other than that, it was an enjoyable excursion and I would recommend it.
This was a fantastic excursion. We were concerned that we would have to carry our valuables and then wait for a ride back to the ship but the two tour guides that took us for the trip drove us there and then accompanied us for the whole tour through the cave and back to our starting spot. They locked our valuables in the van so that was no problem. Devon and Abner were our two guides. Both of them were very knowledgeable and pleasant to get along with. Devon talks non stop both ways so you lean a lot about Belize. Take this tour. You'll love it.
Go cave tubing in a remote national park on a guided half-day outing. Travel by mini-bus into the rain forest outside of Belize City and learn about the area’s tropical flora and fauna on a brief walk to the cave system. This was the best deal financially but also so very good deal for the experience! Jose who drove us was amazing and talk to us all the way there about the history of Belize . he is the nicest man and such a good driver! Colin who was our tour guide on the boat went out of his way to give us extra experiences with all the different kind of birds we even got to see bats up close. He is a very careful driver and happy friendly he cooked our meal and it was completely delicious and we did not get sick at all. Both of these guys had a lot of energy and enthusiasm and knowledge we could not have been more pleased! We were happy to give them each their own tip so be generous because they rely on this tip money to support their families . So we are big fans of viator! Thank you and please tell our guides how very much they made everyone in our group happy
Our guide Emir was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and answered a ton of questions. Lunch was homemade and delicious.
The river cruise was fun and got to enjoy lots of wildlife and learn about the beautiful scenery.
We saw the howler monkeys once we arrived on shore.
I highly recommend this tour to learn about Mayan history and culture. They were an amazing cultivation.

Full day snorkeling at HOL CHAN.(NOT for CRUISE SHIP guests)
, Feb 2020
The usual overused adjectives really does apply here: awesome, amazing, fantastic, etc.
The reefs are in good condition, and you'll see many species of fish, even turtles and nurse sharks up close (probably).
I really enjoyed the tour as such and you get to be in the water a lot during this tour as you go different sites to snorkel around. The guides are fun and like to joke around but they are serious about protecting you and the maritime wild life. The food was good too! The only thing I have to criticise quite a lot is the lack of communication. The mention you can get the ferry tickets through them if you stay outside of Caye Caulker, so I inquired about it and was told it's 15 USD. Fine, so I told them I'd like to have them and how to proceed, where to get them etc. I never got a reply (this was in Dec.) Then the day before I enquired again and haven't received a reply yet again, as I only have a foreign phone the charge it would have been for me to pay a call was too high. So I had to pay double the fare for the ferry in the end as I didn't know if the tickets had been put aside or whatever. Upon arrival I then was told to pay for the tickets, fortunately I didn't have to pay them after I explained that I never heard back but I would have liked to hear that they are sorry for the lack of communication which didn't happen. Then I also found out that we could be dropped at San Pedro, which was nowhere communicated and didn't even seem to be an option. Apparently it is though if you have a min. of 5 people stay there. It would have been great to have this communicated as I wasted money on a) the ferry in general and then b) also on the return, as I obviously bought it as a return trip in order to safe there at least. So make sure to inquire about this beforehand, especially if you are more than 5 people...
But that aside it is definitely worth it!
Hol Chan was amazing. Part of the tour was guided and then part you were able to explore the reef solo. Swim with sharks and rays! So much fun! Philip was awesome. They take a go pro and send you pictures and videos at the end of the day.
The Hol Chan Marine Reserve is one of the most popular snorkeling and scuba diving sites in Belize and lies just off the coast of Caye Caulker. Dive in to snorkel in areas known for nurse sharks, southern sting rays, and manatees; explore a sunken shipwreck, and swim among schools of tropical fish and colorful coral reefs.
Our tour guide Dorian, with Private Belize Adventures (501 6523163) provided a fun and fact filled day for my wife and I. We were picked up at our hotel, The Great House Inn, in Belize City and driven to the the Cave Tubing activity. We were introduced to our personal river guide, Cous, who shared the origins of the cave and its importance to the Mayan people. The walk to the river took 20 minutes, and the float down the river into the cave lasted an hour and it was spectacular-crystal clear and cool water. Dorian took us to a local restaurant where we ate authentic Belizien fare. Altun Ha did not disappoint! What an incredible site to see- a fascinating history of the Mayan culture. The steps to the top of the Sun God structure is not for the faint at heart. Thanks again to Dorian for giving us a glimpse of Belize and it's people.
Learn about 3,000-year-old Mayan civilization with a visit to Altun Ha, then go tubing in the Branch Rivera Caves during this 6-hour adventure from Belize City. No experience is necessary; this activity is suitable for participants of all fitness levels. A traditional Belizean lunch with refreshments and round-trip transportation from centrally located Belize City hotels, the airport or the cruise port are included.
We unexpectedly got our own private tour guide and couldn't have been luckier to meet Abner. Educated in tourism, he had answers to all of our questions and added personal and cultural information to give us a larger understanding of the areas we were visiting. On the kayak trip he guided us through any spots he thought might give novices any troubles. Though quite a distance to our next destination at Altun Ha, we never felt rushed and he made the car ride enjoyable with his anecdotes. If you get the chance, be sure to ask for Abner!

We booked Jose Tours outside of Royal Caribbean and we had a nice time. My Mom, Sister and I met Jose right outside the cruise terminal. He had a sign with my name on it. We traveled to Altun Ha ruins and he gave us information along the way. We also had a traditional lunch that was stewed chicken, rice and beans. It was yummy. Jose was very friendly and knew lots of information about Belize. I would highly recommend Jose Tours. Don’t be afraid to book outside of a cruise line. Just do your research and read reviews. Thank you Jose for a wonderful day.
We booked Jose Tours outside of Royal Caribbean and we were not disappointed. Jose promptly met us outside of the cruise terminal and walked us to his van. We traveled to Altun Ha ruins and he gave us history along the way. After the Mayan ruins we went to eat a traditional meal of stewed chicken and rice. It was very good. His English was perfect and we enjoyed the hours we spent chatting with him. I would highly recommend Jose Tours. You will not be disappointed.
I booked Jose Tours through Viator based on the reviews that I read. My family and I sailed on Liberty of the Seas. Meeting Jose after we got off ship was very easy. I member of Jose’s team held a white board with the booking name on it. We had a private tour to Altun Ha, which also included a traditional meal. Jose pointed out important facts along the way and as well answered all of our questions. My Mom, Sister really enjoyed ourselves and would highly recommend Jose Tours to anymore traveling to Belize!

This tour was un-belize-able. Abner met us at the water taxi. He was friendly, knowledgeable with a great sense of humor. We walked through the rain forest and got a fabulous nature lesson. My husband even ate some termites after Abner ate them first.
I highly recommend this tour and V.I.V. It’s helpful if you have some kayaking experience. You can go tandom or single. We all went solo. Much better experience as my husband and I whitewater kayak.

This trip was amazing! Percy was my guide. He was super helpful and made things really smooth and easy. He was really informative and helped make sure I made my water taxi in time. I was traveling alone and we had a group of four that joined us from the cruise. I had only booked the zipping and ruin tour but he offered the cave tubing for a little extra $$. Well worth it!!!

We are the first -- and only -- provider of super stretch, 20 passenger, SUV limousines in the country of Belize. When you go on one of Belize's amazing day tours, learn about our culture, visit our fabulous ruins and caves, and explore our wildlife adventures, why do so bouncing around in a circa-1980 panel van with a distracted driver/guide yelling over his shoulder at you? Instead, ride with a professional limo driver dedicated to only one thing -- your safety. Take a deep and meaningful dive into our culture with a top-flight guide, who accompanies you inside the limo, faces you, eye to eye, answering all your questions and catering to all your needs. Breakfast, lunch, spirits, all included. In truth, you spend more time getting to these sites than enjoying them, so why not make the transportation part of the experience?
this tour is perfect for a group that wants a private tour experience.
On Dec 3 our group of 4 took a private tour of Altun Ha & Belize City with Omar Rodriguez through Smart Travel. We booked the tour a few days prior online through Viator at $70 per person. We received an email with specific directions on how to meet him and that he would be wearing a yellow polo and holding a sign with my name. We found him immediately. We were a bit concerned because our tour was booked for 8:30am, and even though we had taken the first avaiable tender from the ship to the port in Belize City, it was about 9am before we were able to meet him. We were happy to see him waiting for us! The vehicle was acceptable and drove us through Belize City, provided history of the country. He stopped to buy us plantain chip snacks before heading to the Altun Ha Mayan Ruins site. Omar walked with us through the site providing information and encouragement while climbing the temples. He was fun, friendly and we felt very comfortable with him. On the way back he gave us water and punch to drink. We really enjoyed our time with Omar and learning more about Belize and its history. I'd recommend this tour. Bring bug repellent for Altun Ha... the jungle mosquitos are hungry.
