Bend’s historic Old Mill District sits scenically beside the Deschutes River, offering some of the city’s best dining, shopping, art galleries, and public spaces. A walking path lines the riverfront, as do the patios of many cafes for people who come to enjoy the river’s beauty. Once home to one of the largest lumber companies in the world, it is now a center for entertainment in Bend, including an outdoor amphitheater for concerts and seasonal festivals and events.
Outside of the many shops and restaurants, nature lovers can enjoy several trails from 1 to 2.4 miles in length that wrap through the mountains in the area. Hand-painted signs tell the history and stories of Bend along the way. The Old Mill District is surrounded by natural lands and wildlife habitats, so there are plenty of places to enjoy the outdoors. As for the indoors, shopping and dining options are both national and local boutique.
The Old Mill District is located just southwest of downtown Bend. Regular shopping hours are Monday through Saturday from 10am to 8pm and Sunday from 11am to 6pm.
