Germany is better known for its sausages, sauerkraut and beer than high-end cuisine but the abundance of cheap food makes visiting Berlin on a budget a breeze. Here are 5 of the best options for budget eats in Berlin.

1. Currywurst
A Bratwurst sausage smeared with ketchup and curry powder, Currywurst has become a street food institution in Berlin and Currywurst fanatics have long argued over the best retailer in town. You won’t have too look far to find a vendor, but Curry 36 in Kreuzberg and Konnopke Imbiss on Schönhauser Allee, are two of the best-known outlets. Of course, you could always opt for a simple Bratwurst sausage, served up in a warm bread roll from kiosks and ‘grillwalkers’ (literally street sellers with grills hung around their chests) all over town.
