Potsdam ans Sanssouci
, Nov 2019
An excellent tour. We enoyed every single minute. Very professional guide, no problems with two l-ges. We learned a lot, the city is magnificent, and so is the palace. Thank you. Highly recommended tour, including for teens.
Visit the head of the former Prussian Empire on a half-day trip to Potsdam. Enjoy a guided tour of the famous Sanssouci Palace and walk through its gardens—during the summer months. Listen to informative commentary from your guide about the history of the Prussian Empire as you stroll through this UNESCO-listed city and visit attractions such as the Dutch Quarter, the rebuilt City Palace, and the New Palace.
Get to know the best of Potsdam on a guided, 4.5-hour bike tour around this scenic university town. Discover its beautiful palaces, parks and gardens. See the historical city center and Dutch Quarter. Pedal past the royal residences of Sansoucci Palace, one of the largest UNESCO World Heritage sites in Germany. Visit Cecilenhof Palace, where Churchill, Truman and Stalin wrote world history, then stop at a beer garden for lunch (own expense). A train ticket plus the use of a bike and helmet is included.
Potsdam was a city of kings – a German Versaille where the Hohenzollern monarchy of Prussia constructed lavish palaces in which they could spend their summers. It was also the setting for the Potsdam Conference, where geopolitical giants Josef Stalin, Harry Truman and Winston Churchill met in the summer of 1945 to seal the post-war fate of Germany and Europe.
This 6-hour tour with a car takes you to Potsdam to experience the pomp and grandeur of Prussia and explore the origins of the Cold War. With your own private vehicle, you have the opportunity to explore much more of the UNESCO-listed palace gardens than would be possible by just walking. Your professional, local guide will provide an in-depth commentary throughout and lead you to the heart of German royalty, past myriad architectural gems, over the 'Bridge of Spies', and much more.
The tour can start at any time you'd like. We recommend to start the tour as early as 10 am so you will be able to experience some of the markets Berlin has to offer. We like walking and we think this the best way to see and experience Berlin. However if you prefer, we can organize a car or a mobility scooter. Our guides are experienced, educated and are members of the Berlin Guide Association. Guides have culinary background but they are also versed in the history of Berlin an they can combine the culinary aspects with the general Berlin history. We have guided many groups and individuals including the American Embassy, German Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The US Holocaust Memorial Museum, colleges and universities from around the world (e.g. - Imperial College London, Georgetown University). During this tour you will see some markets like The Turkish Market on Maybachufer, Markthalle Neun and many other places and delis, all depended on the specific day your tour will take place.
This is an off-the-beaten-track experience across Berlin, combining the diversity of the city with its history. Along the way you'll see Nazi-era buildings as well as a 19th century hospital, now converted into a splendid and sprawling apartment complex; equally, you'll come across stumblestones commemorating murdered Jews during the Nazi-era that are next to some faux-Tudor style buildings developed by one of Berlin's most important turn-of-the-century city developers. You'll also see a typical late 19th century tenement building set against a converted bunker. The quirky diversity of Neukölln with its Turkish Market mark the end of this tour, one which some have described to have an "A" and a "B" Side, though which one is which no one seems to agree!
Discover Berlin's grandest boulevard, Tom Cruise's favourite sausage stand, Museum Island, the Reichstag, and the Jewish Memorial at your own pace. Explore parts of the city you'd only heard of in the movies and history books with three audio tours by best-selling author Rory MacLean (Berlin: Imagine a City, Stalin's Nose, and Pravda Ha Ha).
Rory has known three Berlins: West Berlin where he made movies with David Bowie and Marlene Dietrich, East Berlin where he researched his first bestseller, and now the unified capital. Dive into his Berlin when you buy all three of his tours for the price of two!
The three routes include a tour of Kurfürstendamm - the capital's grandest boulevard; a tour of Museum Island; and a tour of Berlin's often tumultuous and endlessly fascinating history which unfolds in the city centre. All of which you can explore on your own schedule and at your own pace.

Along the way, learn about the cultural and political influences that have helped shape the ever-evolving German capital since its unification in 1989.
In the last few new places I have visited, the HOHO tours are the best way to get an overview of the city. This tour was no exception and it was really great! I coupled this tour with a walking historic tour (previous day) and between the two tours, I had a really great Berlin experience. The HOHO tour is definitely one I would recommend on a first day, because it points out the main attractions so you know where to visit and/or spend additional time! I rated this a 4 instead of 5 because the stops were not clearly marked and I was concerned that I would not find a stop.

City Sightseeing Berlin Hop-On Hop-Off Bus & Optional Boat Tour
Great Way to Get around Berlin
, Dec 2019
It was an excellent choice especially given poor weather to use the Hop on Hop off bus where you get a great appreciation via the view from the top deck and the narrated tour of the city which if time is limited, allows you to pick and choose locations for further exploration.
We went on both the Red and Green Routes. Both were excellent. The English commentary was very informative, the drivers were very skilled and the company was well organized. With so many competing companies using similar names, it can get quite confusing finding he right bus, but there were representatives at all the major stops to help you find your way. The only disappointment was that we missed the 4:00 boat tour by just minutes. The 4:30 boat was cancelled due to an issue with one of the boats being taken out of service. This meant we would have had to wait an hour with no place to sit near the dock. Needless to say we walked back to the hotel.
Explore the best Berlin has to offer on this hop-on hop-off bus tour. Choose from two different routes and visit many of Berlin’s top attractions, including Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie, and the Berlin Wall Memorial. Select a 24- or 48-hour pass, and then board at any of the stops and get to know the city with live onboard commentary, hopping off whenever you'd like. You can also upgrade to add a scenic boat cruise.
