All-in-One Berlin Shore Excursion from Warnemünde and Rostock Port
From $119.96 (Price varies by group size )
Introduction to Berlin - when you only have a day
, Nov 2019
If you only have a one day ship excursion to "see" Berlin, you couldn't do better than this. The tour company has plenty of representatives on hand and the process of boarding the buses is quick and easy. After a pleasant ride through the North German countryside you go through a tunnel and your in Berlin. Your guide boards the bus and you're off.
Our trip was "Reunification Day" which might have interfered with the trip. Our guide was not only familiar with the events scheduled, but what to see first to avoid closures and crowds. So while the itinerary changed, we saw everything we wanted to. Our guide, who had lived in Berlin for some time not only was knowledgeable of the City, but also about the events that had created the Berlin of today.
The only disappointment was lunch. It may have been due to the changed itinerary, but I felt the plan for us to find a lunch spot on our own was not the best idea, or in the best area by "Checkpoint Charlie." I wish we had had a better idea of where to eat, or gone as a group.
This trip does give a really good "first glance" of Berlin. There are a lot of things that we couldn't do because of time. Once again Viator had an outstanding guide for us, great coordination to get to the tour, and value for the price.
All of the tours we took with viator was 5 star. The tour guide was knowledgable and experience, he took the time to explain and manage our time to get back to the ship. The bathroom stops was a challenge and you need to coins to use the bathroom. The stores will not break a 100 eu for small change. There was a desk upon arrival at the port which had our confirmation and we were able to board a bus which took us into Berlin to join a smaller group.
Because of booking through a third party (Viator) I was unable to get clear answers to questions specifically from the company offering the tour prior to the tour; e.g. where the tour company would be located once disembarking the ship or what happens if I can't get off the ship in time or how to add a guest the night before the tour, etc.
Process once off the ship of finding the tour was easy.
Bus was clean and had WiFi.
Tour guide was awesome.
Bus stopped at a truck stop on the way to Berlin and the bathroom only took exact Euro change. Many people had no euros yet, and the truck stop did not have an ATM. My group and several others could not use the bathroom. I suggest the tour company give everyone a Euro to use the bathroom -- increase the tour cost if you have to, or offer an exchange.
Bus driver, while nice and safe, was extremely slow. We hit traffic on the way to Berlin and it took us 4+ hours to get there from the cruise ship. It took us 4 hours to get back. Basically, 8+ hours of travel for 4 hours of site seeing. The driver could have gone much faster on the way home -- I Google Mapped the way home and it said we could have made it in </= 3 hours using any of three map options.

The table in the revolving restaurant, by the window on a lovely winters, sunny day was spectacular. We were lucky with the weather, but the meal could stand alone as being extremely good. Service was attentive, food excellent.
The restaurant experience added the final touch for my son's 11 Birthday celebration. We loved the experience the food was pretty tasty my daughter which is not a real good eater ate the Veal liver. and liked it. The only thing is the view was restricted duento Fog but we stayed till it got dark and were able to appreciate the night vision . The servers typical German l. warm an friendly but efficient and quick in delivering the food. Price wise a bit expensive but again it was a special event worth the price and experience my kids have a story to tell about the Birthday on the revolving restaurant for life. Thank Berlin

Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp Memorial Tour from Berlin
Very educational and worth it
, Jan 2020
Our tour guide Sebastian was a wealth of history and knowledge. Yes it takes a while to arrive at the Camp, but it is worth the journey. So much info. Our guide was very patient and happy to answer a ton of questions
I felt like the trip was planned well but a lot of trains, walking etc to get to destination. I think it could of been better by paying extra with the company arranging a mini bus and getting transport straight there. Tour guide Nikola (I think his name is) was fantastic!

We had such a good time on this trip. Eran was a fantastic guide with loads of great information. The bus we traveled on to Dresden was huge and really nice. When reaching Dresden we got a tour of the city and then were given over 3 hours to explore on our own. We were lucky to be there in December for all of the Christmas markets. It was a great day and Dresden (the old town part of it we saw) is a great city to explore.
A very memorable visit to Dresden with Viator. Our guide Oren was the highlight of the trip, very knowledgable and informative. We were very lucky to had him as a guide. Recommended day trip to Dresden with Oren

This was a pleasant cruise.
Of course the weather was lovely which always helps.
I would like to have gone a little further along the river but
as it was it was very enjoyable. Great to see more than you
can from the shore and to get a different perspective of the
places you have seen.

All-in-One Berlin Shore Excursion - with WIFI on the bus!
Berlin stay too short
, Oct 2019
the trip is not as long as Viator claims "5-6 hrs in Berlin if there is no any traffic delay". Our trip had no any major traffic issue but still took over 4.5 hrs to get to Berlin and over 3.5 hrs back to cruise. We actually had only 3.5 hrs in Berlin which included 40 minutes lunch. I would say it can't be 5.5-6 hrs in Berlin under any circumstances.

Private Custom Berlin Sightseeing Tour in a Minivan: East and West Berlin
From $721.22 per group
, Dec 2019
We had our tour with Markus who was a fantastic guide. The tour is 6 hours and we covered a huge part of the city and a variety of areas. Markus took us to great local and tourist type places and gave us lots of interesting information. Our driver, whose name I forget, was also really professional and did a great job. It was a fantastic day and I would highly recommend it for a tour in Berlin. You can completely customize your day and are free to ask for a coffee break/lunch break whenever you want. This is worth the money you will spend for the day.
Our guides in Berlin were super super knowledgeable. We learned so much about the city that we never knew. We were lucky to have two people showing us around the city - our super talented driver and a guide. And just as a coincidence one grew up in East Berlin and the other in West. They had different experiences that brought a richness to the adventure that we appreciated. The only reason I’m not giving a 5 star rating for this tour is because I use a wheelchair and the van was difficult for me to get in and out of so there were a couple of locations I would have liked to have gotten out but once settled in the van it was easier to send my husband for pictures. But I want to stress that I didn’t miss any of the history or impact of any of the stops because each of the guides made sure that they explained everything before and after. Our driver had some noteworthy skill in maneuvering the van around some of these places and because I it was difficult for me to exit the vehicle he made sure that if there was something important or interesting to see that he navigated around the area so I could see it even if it was something like a table with a knocked over chair. And I will carry the significance of that artwork's meaning with me forever.
This was our first time to Berlin and we didn’t know what to expect. This tour was informative, fun, educational and we were able to tailor to our interests. Our guide and drivers were excellent. The tour allowed us to plan the rest of our stay in Berlin as we knew what areas of interest to revisit. I highly recommend.

John was an excellent tour guide! He knew the cities history very well and did a great job remembering where each person is from in our group to make specific references to each of our countries throughout the tour. His speeches about the Holocaust memorial and the government of Germany during and after WWII really drew your attention in. Speaking as an American, I would highly recommend this tour.

We enjoyed the evening enormously, full of theatricality, good atmosphere was created in the Orangery Dining room food was good but with a limited choice but service was excellent. The music of Vivaldi and Bach was played with virtuosity. The only possible improvement would be better signage
Overall food not really good. 1st course excellent 10/10. Then downhill. Next was Duck the smallest leg i have ever seen also overcooked very dry. We also had wgat looked like bread pudding with it no taste at all very poor. Asked waiter what it was they did not know. Then choclate genace. Not chocolate genace at all verg dry sponge around an uncooked pear. Poor.

At intermission, VIP seat holders receive a glass of sparkling champagne. This event regularly sells out weeks in advance so be sure to book early.
The tour was quite informative and used a human guide for part of it and prerecorded information for the other. The only problems we had was that I wasn’t sent any information on where to find the bus stops so we lost a bit of time and I had to contact Viator by phone to get directions. Also it wasn’t 100% clear which Chanel in the headphones to listen to to get the English guide- some I for on a sticker next to Chanel changer would be useful.

What a great way to see Berlin! The convenience of a private tour allowed us to go at our own pace while still seeing so much of the city, both East and West. Thomas was knowledgeable and informative. He let us know his unvarnished views on the current state of Germany which was insightful. We stopped for lunch at a great local spot and he had us back for our transfer just at the agreed upon time. Would recommend this tour to others.

Potsdam, just a short train ride (25 minutes) outside of the city is a wonderful contrast to Berlin. Quaint, picturesque, slower paced, the charm of Potsdam will take hold moments after arriving. As part of the City Tour, we strolled through the grounds of Schloss Sanssouci Palace, the Orrangeieschloss & Neues Palace before ending up in the old part of the city of Potsdam which is filled with shops and wonderful restaurants. Sara, our guide for this adventure was marvelous. Her conversational guiding style was so welcoming and she patiently answered all of our questions (we had many!) This is a small tour. We were three total including Sara. Give it a shot, you will not be disappointed.
