As dawn breaks and the morning sun rises from the blue pine forest in the adjacent hills, streaks of gold and silver shimmers on one of the oldest temple in the capital -the Changangkha Lhakhang/temple.The trail leads through gentle slopes as well as steep rugged mountain paths between the placid woods. It is an approximately 5km hike to the Phajoding with the trail following a ridge before climbing up another mountain. A luxury car and your English speaking Bhutanese guide will pick you up from your hotel at around 8 - 8:30 in the morning and you will drive for a few minutes across the Paro Valley till you reach the base of the mountain. Taktsang Monastery is about three hours climb uphill from the base and if you are not up to the hike then we there will be riding ponies already arranged. Tea and snacks will be arranged at a cafeteria mid way. Visit the various temples housing very sacred statues and relics as your guide explains the significance of it all.
