After six years of a difficult preparation, the young man chosen to be the new Cacique (leader) of the Muisca tribe was ready for his new commitment. At Lake Guatavita, the enthronement ceremony was held at noon. The new Cacique, covered himself in gold dust, sailed on a raft to the centre of the lake. Xue (god sun) reflected its light in the body of the young man, while the whole tribe waited in silence around the shore. Then, the boy jumped into the water to rinse himself off, becoming the man in charge of the tribe's future. Fine handmade gold work was thrown into the lake as an offering for Chie, goddess of water. Thus, we have designed a Half-Day Tour to Lake Guatavita incluiding round trip private transport, tickets, private guide and a visit to Guatavita Town.
